runway markings: distances
runway illusions: upsloping makes it look narrower
narrower-than-usual
An upsloping runway, upsloping terrain, or both can create the illusion that the aircraft is at a higher altitude than it actually is. The pilot who does not recognize this illusion will fly a lower approach. This is the same effect as a narrower-than-usual runway.
- wider-than-usual runways and downsloping runways create an illusion that the aircraft is lower than it is.

downsloping or wider-than-usual = seems lower
upsloping or narrower-than-usual = seems higher

SSV: know the heights
(H) = 100 NM between 14,500 feet and 17,999 feet
ceilings are AGL (METAR)
MSL for cloud tops
subtract elevation from cloud tops
or add elevation to cloud ceilings
tops: 3800
elev: 1300
OVC 020
3800 - 1300 = 2500 AGL
1300 + 2000 = 3300
3300 -> 3800 = 500
2000 -> 2500 = 500

360 TO is wrong (should say FROM and typically 0°); 003 TO is also wrong: should say FROM
001 From vs 005 From exceeds tolerance (005 > 004)
