Fronts
warm front
The most critical period is before the [warm] front passes the airport.
Wind changes abruptly in the frontal zone and can induce wind shear turbulence. The degree of turbulence depends on the magnitude of the wind shear. The more hazardous wind shear occurs before the passage of a warm front.
memory tip: Wind shear = Warm front
Frontal waves and cyclones
areas of low pressure: usually form on slow-moving cold fronts or stationary fronts.
