Please note the important distinction I've made (below), and that is explained in more detail in Mark's article (above), between Awareness and Consciousness. Recognizing this distinction is vitally important for understanding the nature of your own subjective experience and your own interior (mental/emotional/psychological) landscape(https://app.thebrain.com/brain/6ed39f0d-0789-418f-89a7-3dbfdc7b1edb/00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000).

It is also important to realize that, with the exception of a few teachers (including Nisargadatta and a handful of Dzogchen Buddhism masters), the vast majority of modern spiritual teachers and writers do not make this crucial distinction, which contributes to our confusion when we are trying to understand the nature of the human mind, the nature of our own innate identity, and the experience of awakening.
