Labia

The labia are two folds of skin that make up the vulva, which is the part of the genitals on the outside of the body. The outer folds are called the labia majora, and the inner folds are called the labia minora. On average, the labia are 0.4 to 6.4 cm long and about 2 cm wide, but can range from 1.2 to 10 cm long and 0.7 to 5 cm wide. The labia of the same woman can also be different lengths.

The main function of the labia is to protect the vaginal and urethral openings from dryness, irritation, and infections. They also contribute to lubrication and sexual stimulation during vaginal intercourse.

Labial hypertrophy is a harmless condition where the labia minora stick out past the labia majora. It doesn't affect sexual health or indicate an underlying medical condition.
