Future Visioning

Imagine the future you want to co-create.

Develop and promote positive possibilities.

Be aware that future visioning is a craft and the longer the horizon the more guidance is needed.

You typically can only imagine what's next from what you have experienced up to now.

Most groups can only predict a few months ahead.

Most of us are uncomfortable with uncertainty and imagining outside expectations.

To imagine better together, make the group as diverse as you can.

Create the conditions for imagination (safe, secure, relaxed creative).

Apply a structure or process to the interaction - this helps lift your eyes beyond the immediate horizon, gives space and respect for all voices and a way to capture ideas as they flow.

Facilitation (a trusted guide) is also helpful.

Entertain the truly bizarre (im) possibilities to open up thinking for what might be 'possible'.

Use story based narrative enquiry to identify themes or emergent 'next best possibles'.

Use creative expressions to visual the ideas to engage all senses and emotions.
