Wesley Barnett
Cheney Garage
501 1st Street
1917-01-26 - Wesley Barnett has purchased from the Security National Bank the vacant lot at the southeast corner of First Street and Normal Avenue. The consideration is stated as $1,250. It is understood that Mr. Barnett has plans for the erection of a modern building on the lot.
Plans are also being prepared for the erection of an addition to the building of the Cheney Garage, owned by Mr. Barnett, which will double the size of the place, making the building 100' by 88' running from First Street to the alley. The rear of the lot being lower than the front, allows the utilization of the basement as a workroom and storage room for cars, which will allow the firm the use of the first floor as a display room for new cars, which they expect to handle the coming season. They have taken over the sales agency for the Hupmobile and the Saxon lines and expect to push their sales in this territory.
