deciding_on_attributes_any_system
Sorry for the generic title, but it's a pretty generic question.
How do you feel about attribute systems? Which existing ones do you like a lot, and which existing ones do you feel are too restrictive or leave out an important area? Which games have too many, and which have too few? When selecting attributes, what method do you favor; point buy, roll and assign anywhere, roll in a fixed order? How do you feel about racial bonuses and penalties?
If you were designing a new RPG system, how many attributes would you have? What are your boundaries of "too few" and "too many"? What attributes would you invent, how would you name them, and what effect would you have them have? What method(s) would you suggest for the player selecting and assigning them?
