Roll Top Desk

August 2019:

This second hand $60 unit was covered in dark black/choclate brown water based stain!

Once removed and re varnished with schellac the beautiful Oak timbers came alive.

The desk has a pull out writing top. The doors needed rehanging and a new brass lockset.

Had to completely remove and refurbish the slatted wood roll top. The unit had been used as a radio/audio/CD player cabinet so it had holes drilled through it for cables etc.

The roll top had a huge 50mm dia. hole drilled through it to allow power chord plugs to pass through.

I had to reback/repair the canvas backing, plus fit new strips of wooden slats. Then stain and refinish.
