Sound
Sound is a form of energy that travels through the air, water, or any other medium that can transmit vibrations. Sound is created by a vibrating object, which causes the air molecules around it to vibrate as well. These vibrations travel through the air as waves, which our ears can detect as sound.
The properties of sound include its frequency, amplitude, and wavelength. Frequency refers to the number of vibrations per second and determines the pitch of the sound. Amplitude refers to the intensity or loudness of the sound, and wavelength refers to the distance between two consecutive peaks or troughs of a sound wave.
Sound can be measured in decibels (dB), with the range of human hearing typically being between 0 and 140 dB. Sounds above 85 dB can cause hearing damage if exposed to them for extended periods.
Sound has many practical applications, such as in communication, music, and medicine. It is also used in various technologies, including microphones, speakers, and sonar.
