Script v2

1. Introduction (21 seconds)

Hi! I'm Father Andrew Smith, the rector of Holy Annunciation Orthodox Church in Brisbane. This last year, we embarked on an ambitious two-stage renovation project for our church. It's been a busy and exhilarating time for our community, especially since we've been holding all of our services off-site during the renovations.

2. Challenges Faced (34 seconds)

As 2023 drew to a close, we began to encounter significant financial hurdles in the renovation project. Economic shifts have led to escalating costs, and we began to realise our initial funding estimates were insufficient to cover anticipated costs. Additionally, unexpected delays, including adverse weather, have further postponed our progress. Currently, we find ourselves in urgent need of additional funds to meet these expenses.

The renovation of our church building is vital not only as our place of worship but also as a community hub for gatherings like our "coffee hour", our Catechism and education programs, as well as our outreach programs that support those in need.

In response to these challenges, we've implemented stricter oversight of the renovation process. Weekly meetings are now held to monitor progress, ensuring that we complete the first stage as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.
