Hi! I’m Fr. Andrew Smith, and I am the rector of Holy Annunciation Orthodox Church in Brisbane. In 2023, we commenced the first stage of our two-stage building plan to renovate our church. It has been a very exciting and hopeful time for all of us who have been attending our services off our parish grounds.

With shifting economic factors in the world as they are, towards the end of 2023, we began to realize that our funding was not going to be sufficient to complete the works of our stage one. Invoices for the work performed became higher and higher than anything previously quoted. Our project's completion date has been continually postponed due to factors out of our control, such as inclement weather. At the time of recording this video, we are still hosting our services off-site and now are required to come up with a large sum of money at short notice, which is much higher than we had ever anticipated possibly needing for the completion of stage one.

Our church building is important because, beyond providing a place of worship, it is also used for "coffee hour" gatherings and providing support for those in need. Ad lib on some HAOC history.

Since discovering our funding shortfall, we have requested much more active oversight over the construction project, including weekly oversight meetings with myself, and a project timeline geared towards completing stage one in the least amount of time at the lowest possible cost has been developed.

Our goal to finish stage one of this project is $350,000. Every contribution made to this project, no matter the size, will make a meaningful impact on reaching our overall goal.

We encourage you to donate what you can to Holy Annunciation Orthodox Church's fundraising campaign. We have multiple avenues open for accepting donations, but if you want the simplest option, that would be through our Donorbox link, where we accept custom one-off and recurring donations, or by direct deposit to our donations account. If you have not donated to our parish in the past, we urge you to consider donating to us now. Please like, share, and subscribe to the Holy Annunciation YouTube page - with your help, we will be able to maximize the reach and impact of our campaign.

I sincerely thank you for your time and consideration of our parish's cause. Only with your continued support will we be able to fund the completion of stage one of Holy Annunciation Orthodox Church's redevelopment project. Nothing is impossible with God.
