4 - Serverless Computing
:-:
Next, we are introducing Serverless Computing, a cloud delivery model (called also Function-as-a-Service), that has a lot of advantages over the “traditional” IaaS, PaaS and SaaS.
FaaS allows the developer to write functions, triggered by events (event-driven) in the cloud provider ecosystem, that are to be small, independent, functionalities. They are quite different from the long-running servers and are executed in an environment that is totally under the responsability of the cloud provider, that offers scalability and resiliency without any intervention required (not even configuration) from the developer.
Its simplicity, its low costs and its modularity makes it a very interesting programming pattern that can be used everywhere.
We will present the genesis, the advantages and the problems, pitfalls and fallacies of this delivery model
