Authentication

API Keys page
From: Mark @mctrexler
Have people successfully used their own API Keys? When I get a custom API key for my Chat GPT 4 account and paste it into TheBrain, and then try to use the AI feature, I'm told I don't have access to Chat GPT 4.
I'm wondering whether it has something to do with Open AI's API authentication procedures - see attachment.
Has this been an issue for anyone else?

Have you set up a billing method in the Billing tab at http://platform.openai.com? This is necessary before being allowed to make calls to GPT-4 via your own API key.
As of July 6, 2023, all users with pre-existing API accounts that have made a payment of $1 or more should have access to GPT-4.
If you created your API account after August 18, 2023 you will only get access to GPT-4 after purchasing at least $0.50 of pre-paid credits. See the below link for more information:

Note that a ChatGPT Plus subscription is a separate service than accessing GPT-4 via the API. You may be able to access GPT-4 via the web interface at chat.openai.com, but not be able to access it via the API until the above requirements have been met.

It turns out that my GPT-4 via the API account was set up for "monthly payment" with no prepaid option. Apparently there has been a lot of confusion with changes to the payment plans. When I canceled that payment plan and started another, it automatically went to the prepaid option, and now the API Key works.
