Why are we doing this?
The vision for TheBrain has always been to help people make the most of their minds. Making it free is how we bring that vision to more people, faster. If TheBrain has helped you, share it with someone who'd benefit too.
Redesigned brain theme chooser
Themes now appear as a grid of live preview cards, so you can see each theme before applying it. More theme settings (font weight, straight links, gradient style) are now saved and restored.
Highlighted search matches in notes
After selecting a search result, matching words in notes are highlighted, so you can see the relevant content at a glance.
A thank-you for existing customers
If you’ve ever bought a license for TheBrain, we’d like to thank you with more than just words.
Bought a license at any time
- We’re giving you 12 months of Pro services at no charge.
Bought a license after April 15, 2026
We’re happy to provide a full refund if you choose, but we hope you’ll instead take advantage of 18 months of Pro services and continue to support the development of your favorite knowledge platform.
Have a combo license + subscription
You’ll be able to keep your current services at $159 per year, a savings of $21 off the new rate, for as long as your subscription stays active. If you had a combo subscription at any time in the past but it has lapsed, you can still get the discounted rate by renewing before October 1, 2026.
