Franchise Seasons Workflow
Workflow version: FRANCHISE-SEASONS-2026-09-01.06
Status: Active
Validated against: TheBrain 15.0.618
Table dialect: TheBrain legacy Markdown tables — no separator rows
Formatting Rules — TheBrain Legacy Markdown (Mandatory)
- This brain uses TheBrain’s legacy Markdown table dialect.
- Do not insert a separator row beneath any table header. A row such as
|---|---|---|is invalid in this brain. - Do not insert a blank row between a heading and its table.
- A continuous table must remain continuous: do not insert ordinary blank lines inside it, because TheBrain may render the content after the blank line as a second table with different sizing.
- Never represent a historical gap with a pipe-only row or an internal blank line. Preserve the gap semantically through the omitted year(s), and document the gap outside the table if needed.
- Begin each table immediately with its header row, followed immediately by data rows.
- Every data row must contain the same number of pipe-delimited cells as its header.
- Validate the rendered result after writing; do not rely on raw pipe syntax alone.
Standard Structure
- Apply this workflow to a franchise thought, not a team-season thought.
- Create or reuse one child thought per season shown in the source Team column.
- Preserve historical names, alternate spellings, meaningful distinctions, and source anomalies.
- Preserve unrelated notes, links, attachments, and hierarchy.
Standard Table
- Combine all season tables into one chronological table.
- Include one header row with exactly:
Year,Team,League,W,L,Stats. - Insert the heading
## Franchise Seasonsdirectly above the table. - Keep a single
Statscolumn containing an external StatsCrew link. - Do not include
Rosteror attendance columns in the core table. - Keep attendance in a separate optional
## Attendancesection. - Preserve historical gaps by omitting the missing seasons without splitting the table.
- Leave W/L blank when no record is available.
Attendance Table
- Insert
## Attendancedirectly above the Attendance table. - Use exactly one header row:
Year,Attend (Total),AVG (per game). - Do not use a second header row or a separator row.
- Do not insert an internal blank line between attendance rows, including around the 1942–1946 gap.
- Ensure every attendance row has exactly three cells.
Search and Identity Safeguards
- Search before creating thoughts, links, types, or tags.
- Verify exact identity before connecting records.
- Reuse existing thought types; never create duplicate types.
- Preserve the user’s type-list order and custom thought order.
- Document duplicate, fractured, incomplete, or ghost source records.
Internal Links
- Preserve existing working
brain://links exactly. - Generate new internal links only with TheBrain’s link generator.
- Never guess, manually construct, or edit internal links.
- If a link cannot be generated or verified, leave the cell plain text and report it.
Graph Relationships
- Verify or create each season thought as a child of the franchise.
- Verify or create the exact season-league thought and link it as parent of the season thought.
- Add jump links only between consecutive displayed seasons within a continuous block.
Resource URLs
- Treat source URLs as evidence, not automatically authoritative classification.
- Check existing attachments before adding StatsCrew URLs.
- Keep the source URL in the franchise table and attach the same URL to its matching season thought.
- Preserve unrelated attachments.
Classification
- Apply the existing
Team - In Progresstag to each season thought. - Do not create a duplicate tag or type.
Versioning
Each active workflow displays a version identifier near the top:
WORKFLOW-CODE-YYYY-MM-DD.##
Increment the final two digits for each substantive revision. Update the date for a later revision. Cosmetic edits may be recorded without incrementing the revision.

Archive and Maintenance
- When this workflow is retired or materially replaced, preserve the original thought and rename it using:
Franchise (template) — Archive — vX.Y — YYYY-MM-DD
- Link the archived workflow to the active replacement with a jump link.
- Update the workflow index whenever a workflow is created, renamed, archived, or materially revised.
- Verify every internal link before relying on it.
Internal brain-link rule (global)
- Preserve existing working internal
brain://links exactly; do not rewrite them. - Never manually construct, guess, edit, or infer a
brain://URL. - For new internal links, call TheBrain’s thought-link URL generator for the exact thought and copy the returned URL exactly.
- If generation fails, leave the item plain text and report it; do not substitute another format.
Target Thought Metadata Rule
- Never overwrite, reorder, or insert metadata before existing target-thought content.
- When processing a target thought, preserve all existing notes exactly and append processing metadata after the existing content.
- Use this appended format:
### Processing Metadata
- Processed with:
Template name and version - Review date:
YYYY-MM-DD - Brain version:
TheBrain version
- Do not move metadata to the top for convenience or readability unless the user explicitly requests that change.
