Read before writing. I will always retrieve the current notes immediately before any note change.
Append by default. When adding information—especially provenance, status, or metadata—I will use append mode, never replacement mode.
Explicit replacement only. I will replace notes only when you specifically ask me to rewrite or regenerate them.
Preserve existing content. If a note needs editing, I’ll use exact find-and-replace against a unique section rather than overwriting the entire note.
Verify afterward. I will reread the notes and confirm that the original content remains intact.
Flag uncertainty first. If the intended operation could alter existing content, I’ll stop and ask before proceeding.
Procedure
Locate the career-summary section in the person’s note under - "Coaching Career".
Identify the comma-separated team names beneath the career heading.
Read the existing "Coaching Record" table and match each team to its YEAR.
Replace the comma-separated list with one bullet per team-year entry:
TeamName - YEAR
For multiple years, create a separate bullet and separate thought for each year.
Search for an existing TeamName - YEAR thought before creating anything.
If the thought exists, use it; if not, do not create it.
Link each team-year thought as a parent of the person’s thought.
Match each team-year entry to the StatsCrew resource URL in the "Coaching Record" table’s Team column.
Attach that StatsCrew URL to the corresponding team-year thought.
If a thought already has the correct URL attached, do not create a duplicate attachment.
If the bullet is not already linked, replace its plain text with a clickable Internal brain link to the corresponding team-year thought.
Do not modify the Coaching Career table.
StatsCrew source consolidation
Use one canonical TeamName - YEAR thought for each team-year entry, regardless of duplicate StatsCrew major-league and minor-league pages.
For repeated rows with the same team and year, use the same canonical team-year thought and the same bullet; do not create duplicate thoughts or bullets solely because the table repeats the row.
Combine all relevant StatsCrew URLs on that single thought; do not create separate major-league and minor-league thoughts.
Give each attachment a descriptive name identifying its source context, such as StatsCrew major-league manager record or StatsCrew minor-league manager record.
Search for both source-page types when practical, because StatsCrew may not cross-reference the duplicate pages.
If a second relevant page is discovered later, attach it to the existing canonical thought.
Only treat entries as separate when they are genuinely different team-year roles, not merely because the table repeats the row.
If multiple existing thoughts appear to represent the same TeamName - YEAR, do not guess; report the duplicate for user resolution.
If the list contains team names without years, derive the year from the Coaching Record table before rewriting the list.
If a row is ambiguous or cannot be matched confidently, pause and report it rather than guessing.
Player profile distinction
Keep the coach/manager's player profile as a separate thought; do not combine it with the manager career thought or a TeamName - YEAR thought.
When the corresponding player profile thought exists, create a jump link between the player profile thought and the manager career/person thought.
The player profile thought remains separate even when it represents the same individual; the jump link expresses the association.
