Multiple search results with different pointers
Cerebro gave me these definitions
Yes—“pointers” is a reasonable informal term, but the more precise terms are:
- Thought ID / GUID — the stable identifier for a thought.
- Search index — the data TheBrain uses to find thoughts by name, label, and notes.
- Search result — the thought record returned by a search.
- Internal
brain://link — a generated link that points to a specific thought. - Stale reference — a saved ID or link that no longer resolves correctly.
- Display name — the visible thought name, which may include position or jersey information.
In our recent example, 7c992a04-e1b6-49f6-9055-afc7cb2f99d4 is the thought’s GUID. The generated brain:// URL is another pointer to that same thought. Searching by Logan Forsythe - 2B uses the search index and successfully found the GUID.
So the workflow should distinguish between:
- Finding a thought through search
- Confirming its GUID
- Generating a fresh internal link
- Using that generated link in a note
When those systems disagree, the GUID returned by a fresh search plus a newly generated internal link should take priority over an older stored reference.
