A Smoother, Faster Plex
Moving through the plex is now fluid and flicker-free, especially in large brains.
- Panning, dragging, and animations are far smoother and run at your display's full refresh rate
- Thoughts no longer flash after panning, scrolling a zone, or activating a thought
- Resizing the window or the panels around the plex is instant, with no flicker
- Dragging files over the plex no longer disturbs thought positions
- Hover a shortened tag to see its full name
Improved image viewer
- Double-click an image in a note to open it in the image viewer
- Zoom with the mouse wheel or a pinch
- Right-click an image to copy it, set it as a thought's icon, or view its properties
Content area: Choose where the toolbar appears at the top of the content area or in the bottom status bar
- Notes: Switching between rich text, text, and split views keeps your caret, scroll position, and selection
- Notes: The Text view toolbar's new Actions menu offers text transformations — Alter Case, Make Paragraphs, Sort Lines, Remove Duplicate Lines, and more — all undoable
- Notes: The current-line highlight now also appears in the rich text view, and its strength is adjustable in Settings
- Notes: Copy as Markdown now always produces standard, GitHub-flavored Markdown

Notes Saved as Standard Markdown
- Max subscribers can turn it on in Settings > Brain > Content > Notes Format
- Notes are then saved as standard Markdown — GitHub-flavored Markdown with extensions for highlights, callouts, and image sizing — so a note file can be read and edited in other Markdown tools and still come back intact
- New brains use standard Markdown automatically
- Task lists, tables, strikethrough, underline, text styling, and inline math use common Markdown syntax that is not unique to TheBrain
- Notes convert one at a time as you edit them, so nothing changes until you touch it. The switch is permanent for that brain, making this a one-way conversion to standard Markdown
- Viewing a note as Text or in Split view always shows standard Markdown in a brain where it is enabled
- Opening a secondary .md file that still uses the older format offers to convert it
