LOCATION
- The Willbob project is located in the Labrador Trough, about 65 kilometers west of the town of Kuujjuaq, Quebec.
PROPERTY
The project consists of 1,007 claims covering a surface area of about 461 square kilometers.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Project with high gold potential, covering more than 60 km of favorable stratigraphy and containing many gold showings (new and historical).
- Very favorable setting for orogenic Au deposits:
- Greenschist-facies rocks;
- Favorable iron-rich lithologies to precipitate gold – abundant iron-rich gabbros, diorites, iron formations, black shales;
- Polyphase deformation, abundant thrusting and folding;
- Major first-order crustal-scale structure separating older, lower grade VSED metamorphic rocks, from younger, high grade (amphibolite) metaseds rocks – Similar setting as the prolific Cadillac-Larder Lake fault in the Abitibi belt;
- Major second-order gold-bearing fault zones within the Labrador Trough;
- Syn-orogenic, polymictic conglomerates newly recognized – possibly marking major reactivated normal faults within the orogeny (similar to Timiskaming-type conglos in the Abitibi belt).
- Little previous exploration for gold – Lots of old exploration for base metals, gold was seldom analyzed – Many/most Au showings were found by Midland last 4 years – No IP geophysics ever done.
- At least five types of gold mineralization identified on the project:
- Shear zones with fault-filling quartz veins, pyrrhotite-pyrite, in diorites-gabbros (Didgeridoo);
- Shear zones with fault-filling quartz veins and associated flat tension veins, with arsenopyrite, in diorite-gabbros (Golden Tooth, Lafrance, Polar Bear);
- Quartz-pyrite±chalcopyrite±sphalerite±galena veins in gabbros (Alias, SP, Kavi) ;
- Networks of flat, quartz-pyrite-pyrrhotite veins, in iron formations or tonalites (Dessureault, Lafrance East);
- Gold-bearing volcanogenic massive sulfides (Stars).
- New 2017-2018 gold zones :
- Ants Zone: Outcropping zone of disseminated pyrrhotite with minor quartz veins in quartz diorite. The gold zone has been defined as 100 meters long of drilling, between 6 to 12 meters thick and is open to the west and at depth:
- 1.81 g/t Au on 12.06 m, including 2.99 g/t Au on 4.56 m (drill hole WB-19-33);
- 2.09 g/t Au on 6.01 m, including 4.05 g/t Au on 2.5 m (drill hole WB-19-26);
