While creating this, many of the stories about the persecution of Bahá’ís in Iran were being released and simply in reading this, I felt this weight that could compare to no other anguish that I’ve ever remotely experienced. Making that the focus of this piece, I injected the tests I was personally experiencing and have experienced. Thinking, also, how small they were in relation to the tests Bahá’u’lláh experience and the Bahá’ís in Iran face, yet they still felt huge to me in the moment, overwhelming even. These emotions manifested themselves in the editing and visuals and sounds used in this piece. I later wanted to introduce the visual of light, both conceptually and literally. The candle is always lit, it just becomes more visible when we want to see it. The quote at the end is a continuation of the quote that was shared, when I read “Let thine heart be patient, and be thou not dismayed" it really brought peace to my mind and I hope this gives a similar experience to the viewer.
