<div id="description" class="style-scope ytd-video-secondary-info-renderer">Here we spice up our lay out of elementary arithmetic by throwing in some pleasant problems that young people can think about. These will involve, and improve, their arithmetic skills. Some of the problems involve powers of two, so they help prepare students for binary arithmetic later on, and also are simple instructive examples of geometric series. There are also problems involving triangular numbers and also one involving geometric rearrangement of summations. The idea is to get students doing arithmetic and thinking about numbers in a broad, curiosity-motivated way. And to teach them how to approach problems in a sensible, step-by-step fashion, starting with simple examples and working upwards to more complicated ones.
