Ancient Mathematics
A new series which aims to explore ancient mathematics, from Neolithic times to the rise of ancient Greece. We are particularly interested in the remarkable mathematics from the Old Babylonian period from 1900 B.C.E to 1600 B.C.E. This culture had a rich mathematics that we are just now learning more and more about, and features work with Daniel Mansfield on Plimpton 322. But we also want to cast our gaze more widely at other aspects of astronomy and mathematics in pre-history.
