Pro Cloud Server
Pro Cloud Server
Overview
Sparx Pro Cloud Server provides a server-side access layer for Enterprise Architect repositories. It supports remote access to centrally hosted EA models and can enable browser-oriented access scenarios, depending on configuration, licensing, and the client or web products used with it.
Typical capabilities
- Central access to EA repositories over a network
- Remote connectivity for EA users
- Support for server-based database repositories
- Secure access through configured authentication and HTTPS
- A foundation for web or browser-based model access
- Integration point for products such as Prolaborate, where supported
How to use it
- Choose and configure the target repository database.
- Install Pro Cloud Server on an appropriately secured server.
- Configure repository connections and network access.
- Enable HTTPS and use valid certificates for production access.
- Configure authentication, authorization, and user/group access.
- Test EA-client connectivity from representative locations.
- Add browser publishing or collaboration products only after the repository service is stable.
- Monitor performance, logs, backups, capacity, and availability.
- Document firewall, VPN, certificate renewal, and disaster-recovery procedures.

Optional: Prolaborate or other publishing layer
Advantages
- EA-native infrastructure for remote repository access.
- Keeps the authoritative model in a controlled server repository.
- Can support distributed teams better than sharing a file repository.
- Provides a foundation for browser access and external collaboration layers.
- Aligns with centralized database backup, security, and administration practices.
Disadvantages and considerations
- Requires server, database, network, security, backup, and monitoring administration.
- Does not by itself guarantee a complete stakeholder portal or polished publishing experience.
- Network latency and outages affect model access.
- Licensing and feature availability must be checked for the intended deployment.
- Directly exposing a database or service without HTTPS and access controls is inappropriate for production.
Best fit
Choose Pro Cloud Server when the main need is secure, centralized, remote access to an EA repository, with optional web publishing layered on top.
