d. Political correctness doesn't work for narrative

A major part of the politically correct agenda (which could be called the dignity and respect agenda) is combatting stereotypes. But what I fear is not appreciated is the extent to which the narrative landscape favors stereotypes. This was what Chapter 5 was all about: the double-edged sword.

You might say that you don’t want to live in a world that favors stereotypes. Well, you’d better start working on some sort of genetic manipulation that can change the structure of the brain because unless something changes, we’re going to be ABT-seeking creatures for a long time to come. ABT points to the singular narrative, and the singular narrative points to the stereotype.

As minority groups know, stereotypes can be combatted, but it takes major effort, in large part because you’re battling the basic programming of the brain. But that’s okay. Most of what civilization is about is creating structure to prevent what the brain will do if there isn’t any structure
