Nihilism

<h1>Nihilism</h1>

<p>The world is probably not rationally constructed and probably has no meaning and there probably is no afterlife. (See&nbsp;<a class="thought-link" href="brain://preview.webbrain.com/5IWkj_WbCkuk3zPNwDjZJQ/4Kb0X_JJykWLRY4XkFq8Rw/IsThereLifeAfterDeath">Is There Life After Death?</a>)</p>

<p>(cf. Kurt G&ouml;del's quote,&nbsp;<a class="thought-link" href="brain://preview.webbrain.com/5IWkj_WbCkuk3zPNwDjZJQ/Mx585Nrlt0iamjrHHdeEUg/IfTheWorldIsRationallyConstructedAndHasMeaningThenThereMustBe">"If the world is rationally constructed and has meaning, then there must be such a thing [as an afterlife]."</a>)</p>

<p>However we know that life has some meaning: <a class="thought-link" href="brain://preview.webbrain.com/5IWkj_WbCkuk3zPNwDjZJQ/Q3vhPQKGT0u-WXLB27WtDQ/TheSelfishGene">you are a mule for your genes</a>, so your genes compel you to stay alive, and (among other things) to reproduce and to raise those children to do the same. I am not trying to be prescriptive here, just mentioning that 'life' has a 'meaning' which is to keep the copies of the informations in the genes from vanishing from the gene pool.</p>
