<p>In chemistry, <b>hydrochlorides</b> are <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salt%28chemistry%29" title="Salt (chemistry)">salts</a> resulting, or regarded as resulting, from the reaction of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrochloric_acid" title="Hydrochloric acid">hydrochloric acid</a> with an organic <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base%28chemistry%29" title="Base (chemistry)">base</a> (mostly <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amine" title="Amine">amines</a>). An archaic alternative name for "hydrochloride" is <b>muriate</b>, derived from hydrochloric acid's ancient name: muriatic acid.</p>
