        BEAM - an acronym for 
      
      
        <i>Biology, Electronics, Aesthetics, </i>
      
      
        and
      
      
        <i> Mechanics</i>
      
      
        . Four relativly small words around which a new classification of robotics has been 
        formed. Flame wars have been fought and many lives have been lost over just exactly what 
        these words together mean. To some, it is a simple diversion from the complexities of 
        everyday life. To others, it is almost divine. For most, I believe, it's a cheap and 
        relatively painless way to break into the field of robotics and synthetic intelligence. As 
        most "Mainstream" scientific beliefs and practices are utter failures, the true scientists 
        of the world must break new ground. BEAM Robotics is part of that ground. Let us break 
        ground together, my brethern!
