Hosting Services : NOC
<p class=default>
Webb’s solutions are delivered as completely hosted, tunkey
<br/>
systems. All communities and applications are hosted at
<br/>
Webb’s Network Operations Center (NOC).
</p>
<p>
The Webb NOC is designed with two primary goals in mind:
<br/>
High-Availability and Maximum Scalability.
</p>
<p>
For High-Availability, each piece of equipment is configured with
<br/>
internally redundant components in clustered arrangements in
<br/>
case of catastrophic failure. Monitoring tools track the health
<br/>
and status of each server and network component so problems
<br/>
can be addressed before equipment failure. In the event of
<br/>
equipment failure, each component has a redundant backup in
<br/>
the NOC. Any single piece of equipment could fail without
<br/>
noticeable loss in service.
</p>
<p>
For Scalability, two basic components have been addressed.
<br/>
The first, Network bandwidth, is very scalable and easily
<br/>
upgraded. There are currently two Internet connections (for
<br/>
redundancy, not bandwidth) to separate routers provided by
<br/>
Verio. Each of these is currently at 6Mps, but can be increased
<br/>
to 100Mps each within minutes. The second, Hardware, has
<br/>
been addressed by the configuration of the servers. Every server
<br/>
has been configured so that installing additional processors and
<br/>
memory can quickly double the processing power.
</p>
<p>
Security has been addressed via dual firewalls running Sun
<br/>
Solaris with Checkpoint Firewall-1 software. These are in a
<br/>
High-Availability configuration in case of equipment failure.
