Genesis 33
33 And Jacob lifteth up his eyes, and looketh, and lo, Esau is coming, and with him four hundred men; and he divideth the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two maid-servants;
^2 ^and he setteth the maid-servants and their children first, and Leah and her children behind, and Rachel and Joseph last.
^3 ^And he himself passed over before them, and boweth himself to the earth seven times, until his drawing nigh unto his brother,
^4 ^and Esau runneth to meet him, and embraceth him, and falleth on his neck, and kisseth him, and they weep;
^5 ^and he lifteth up his eyes, and seeth the women and the children, and saith, What [are] these to thee?' And he saith, The children with whom God hath favoured thy servant.'
^6 ^And the maid-servants draw nigh, they and their children, and bow themselves;
^7 ^and Leah also draweth nigh, and her children, and they bow themselves; and afterwards Joseph hath drawn nigh with Rachel, and they bow themselves.
^8 ^And he saith, What to thee [is] all this camp which I have met?' and he saith, To find grace in the eyes of my lord.'
^9 ^And Esau saith, `I have abundance, my brother, let it be to thyself that which thou hast.'
^10 ^And Jacob saith, `Nay, I pray thee, if, I pray thee, I have found grace in thine eyes, then thou hast received my present from my hand, because that I have seen thy face, as the seeing of the face of God, and thou art pleased with me;
^11 ^receive, I pray thee, my blessing, which is brought to thee, because God hath favoured me, and because I have all [things];' and he presseth on him, and he receiveth,
^12 ^and saith, `Let us journey and go on, and I go on before thee.'
^13 ^And he saith unto him, `My lord knoweth that the children [are] tender, and the suckling flock and the herd [are] with me; when they have beaten them one day, then hath all the flock died.
^14 ^Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant, and I -- I lead on gently, according to the foot of the work which [is] before me, and to the foot of the children, until that I come unto my lord, to Seir.'
^15 ^And Esau saith, Let me, I pray thee, place with thee some of the people who [are] with me;' and he said, Why [is] this? I find grace in the eyes of my lord.'
^16 ^And turn back on that day doth Esau on his way to Seir;
^17 ^and Jacob hath journeyed to Succoth, and buildeth to himself a house, and for his cattle hath made booths, therefore hath he called the name of the place Succoth.
^18 ^And Jacob cometh in to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which [is] in the land of Canaan, in his coming from Padan-Aram, and encampeth before the city,
^19 ^and he buyeth the portion of the field where he hath stretched out his tent, from the hand of the sons of Hamor, father of Shechem, for a hundred kesitah;
^20 ^and he setteth up there an altar, and proclaimeth at it God -- the God of Israel.

33 Then Jacob glanced up and saw, behold, there was Esau coming—and 400 men with him. So he divided the children among Leah, Rachel and the two female servants. 2 He put the female servants and their children first, then Leah and her children behind them, then Rachel and Joseph behind them. 3 But he himself passed on ahead of them, and bowed to the ground seven times until he came near to his brother.
4 But Esau ran to meet him, hugged him, fell on his neck and kissed him—and they wept. 5 His eyes glanced up and he saw the women and the children, and said, “Who are these with you?”
“The children whom God has graciously given your servant,” he said. 6 Then the female servants approached, they and their children, and bowed down. 7 Leah also approached, along with her children, and they bowed down, and finally, Joseph and Rachel approached and bowed down.
8 “What do you mean by this whole caravan that I’ve met?”
So he said, “To find favor in your eyes, my lord.”
9 But Esau said, “I have plenty! O my brother, do keep all that belongs to you.”
10 Yet Jacob said, “No, please! If I have found favor in your eyes, then you will take my offering from my hand. For this is the reason I’ve seen your face—it is like seeing the face of God—and you’ve accepted me! 11 Please, take my blessing that was brought to you, because God has been gracious to me, and because I have everything.” So he kept urging him until he accepted.
12 Then he said, “Let’s journey and be on our way, and I’ll go ahead of you. 13 He continued, “My lord knows that the children are tender, and that the flocks and the cattle in my care are nursing. So if they were pushed hard just one day, all the flocks would die. 14 Please, let my lord pass on ahead of your servant, and I’ll move on further gradually, at a pace suited to the livestock that are before me and at a pace suited to the children, until I come to my lord in Seir.”
15 Then Esau said, “Please let me leave with you some of the people who are with me.”
But he said, “What’s this? Let me find favor in my lord’s eyes.”
16 So on that day Esau returned on his way to Seir, 17 but Jacob journeyed to Sukkot and built a house for himself, and for his livestock he made booths. That is the reason that place is called Sukkot.
18 So Jacob arrived in shalom to the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Paddan-aram, and camped right in front of the city. 19 He purchased the portion of the field there where he had pitched his tent from the sons of Hamor, Shechem’s father, for 100 pieces of money. 20 There he set up an altar, and he called it, El is Israel’s God.

33 And Ya’akov lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, hinei, Esav came, and with him arba me’ot ish (four hundred men). And he divided the yeladim unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two shefachot.
2 And he put the shefachot and their yeladim rishonah, and Leah and her yeladim acharonim, and Rachel and Yosef acharonim.
3 And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground sheva pe’amim, until he came near to achiv (his brother).
4 And Esav ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his tzavar (neck), and kissed him; and they wept.
5 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the nashim and the yeladim; and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The yeladim which Elohim hath graciously given thy eved.
6 Then the shefachot came near, they and their yeladim, and they bowed themselves.
7 And Leah also with her yeladim came near, and bowed themselves; and after came Yosef near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.
8 And he said, What meanest thou by all this machaneh which I met? And he said, These are to find chen (grace) in the eyes of adoni.
9 And Esav said, I have enough, achi (my brother); keep that thou hast unto thyself.
10 And Ya’akov said, No, now, if I have found chen (grace) in thy sight, then receive my minchah at my yad inasmuch as I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the p’nei Elohim (the face of G-d) vatirtzeini (and thou wast pleased to accept me, thou wast appeased by me).
11 Accept, now, my brocha that is brought to thee; because Elohim hath dealt graciously with me, and because yesh li khol (there is to me all, my needs are met). And he urged him, and he accepted.
12 And he said, Nise’ah (let us take our journey), and let us go, I will go next to thee.
13 And he said unto him, Adoni knoweth that the yeladim are tender and the nursing tzon and bakar are upon me; and if men should overdrive them yom echad, all the tzon will die.
14 Let now adoni, pass over before his eved; and I will lead on slowly, according to the pace of the drove that goeth before me and the pace the yeladim are able to endure, until I come unto adoni at Seir.
15 And Esav said, Let me now leave with thee some of HaAm that are with me. And he said, What needeth it? Let me find chen in the sight of adoni.
16 So Esav returned that day on his derech unto Seir.
17 And Ya’akov journeyed to Sukkot, and built him a bais, and made sukkot for his mikneh; therefore the shem of the makom is called Sukkot.
18 And Ya’akov came shalem to Ir Shechem, which is in eretz Kena’an, when he came from Padan Aram; and encamped before the Ir.
19 And he bought a chelkat hasadeh (piece of land), where he had pitched there his ohel, from the yad Bnei Chamor Avi Shechem, for a hundred pieces of kesitah (money).
20 And he erected there a Mizbe’ach, and called it El Elohei Yisroel.
