The seventy elders of Israel: Although God had provided the Israelites with manna and water, they demanded meat, as well. God promised to oblige. In preparation, Moses ordered seventy elders to the tent of meeting, and the Holy Spirit temporarily endowed them with the ability to prophesy (Numbers 11:25).
Tabernacle musicians: First Chronicles 25:1–7 lists the musicians whom David commissioned to perform before the tabernacle and identifies them as prophets. They include Heman, the grandson of Samuel; Jeduthun; and Asaph, as well as their sons.
Writers of the Psalms: Many of the psalms besides those directly identified as having been written by David refer to the coming Christ, including Psalms 2, 18, 89 (by Ethan the Ezrahite), 132, and many others.
A man of God from Judah: God sent this unnamed prophet to Bethel to confront the sin of King Jeroboam (1 Kings 13:1–10). God told this prophet not to eat or drink on his journey and to return home to Judah a different way than he had gone. While speaking to the king, the prophet performed a sign to authenticate his words: the altar used by Jeroboam split in two, and the ashes spilled out. When the king tried to arrest the man of God, the king’s hand withered; when the man of God prayed for the king, the king’s hand was healed.
An old prophet in Bethel: This unnamed prophet intercepted the man of God on his way home to Judah and deceived him into dining at his house (1 Kings 13:11–32). In this way, the old prophet caused the man of God from Judah to disobey the Lord's command. The result was that the man of God from Judah was mauled to death by a lion in the way. The old prophet buried the man of God and instructed his sons to bury him beside the man of God some day.
Unnamed Prophet: When the northern kingdom of Israel was threatened by Syria, this prophet assured King Ahab that Israel would triumph with God’s help. Ahab did triumph—twice. But he let Ben-hadad, the king of Syria, live. Another, or perhaps the same, prophet disguised himself as a wounded soldier and prophesied against Ahab for not killing Ben-hadad (1 Kings 20).
Unknown prophets: Various prophets lived during the time of Elijah and Elisha, belonging to the school of prophets. Nothing is known about these prophets except some lived in Bethel (2 Kings 2:3) and some in Jericho (2 Kings 2:5), and they all annoyed Elisha by reminding him that Elijah’s departure was imminent.

Prophets were simply people who spoke for God—men and women who, at God’s direction, looked their fellow Israelites in the eye and told them they were being disloyal to the God to whom they owed their existence and who had chosen a relationship with them over everyone else on earth. Prophets told people the unvarnished truth and often paid dearly for it.

Are Prophets for after Jesus Ascended?
Ephesians 11 (Paul 62 AD - 32 years after Jesus Ascended)
v10-11 the very one who ascended higher ... gave the apostles, the neviim/prophets, the evangelists, the pastors, and the teacher to equip his people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up ... UNTIL we ALL reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of Jesus AND become MATURE, attaining to the WHOLE MEASURE of the fullness of Christ
- this specifically says Christ gave these offices and why they were given and when they would be taken away
- This was written over 30 years after Jesus ascended - why mention these ministries if they were no longer in operation?
1 Corinthians 12 (Paul 54 AD - 29 years after Jesus Ascended)
V28 YAH has placed in the assembly first of all apostles, second neviim/prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing ....
- This specifically says Yah put these in the CURRENT assembly
- Paul does not write to forget about these because they are no longer in operation
1 Corinthians 14 - (Paul 54 AD - 29 years after Jesus Ascended)
v29 - Two or three neviim/prophets should speak
V30 - If a word comes to a nav/prophet sitting down, the first navi/prophet should stop.
V37 - if anyone thingks they are a navi/prophet or otherwise ...
- Paul is given instructions to CURRENT neviim/prophets in operation at that time
Revelation 22 (John from Patmos 95 AD - 65 years after Jesus Ascended)
v9 Don’t do that I am a fellow servant with you //John// and with your //John// fellow prophets
- John was called a prophet
- Fellow prophets implies others in John’s time were prophets
Acts 21 - (Paul in Jerusaelm in 59 AD - 29 years after Jesus Ascended)
v10 - a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea
1 John 3 - (John’s first letter written around 90 AD - 60 years after Jesus Ascended)
v7 - do not let any navi/prophet lead you astray
1 John 4 (John’s first letter written around 90 AD - 60 years after Jesus Ascended)
V4 because many false prophets have gone out into the world ... this his how you can recognize
- John doesn’t say there aren’t anymore prophets, he goes on to tell how to tell recongize one with the Spirit of God.
2 Peter 2 (67 AD - 37 years after Jesus Ascended)
V1 false neviim/prophets among the people just as there will be false teaches among you.
- Peter doesn’t say there will not be true prophets
Hebrews 1 (68 AD - 38 years after Jesus Ascended)
V1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in vairous ways, but in these last days he HAS spoke to us by his Son
- HAS spoken through Jesus - does not say will no longer speak through prophets - saying in THESE last days he HAS spoke through Jesus
- If we take this as he will no longer speak through prophets - then the only way moving forward is to speak through Jesus? What about in Revelation where John is called a prophet?
Ephesians 3 (Paul 62 AD - 32 years after JEsus Ascended)
V5 which was not made know to people in other generations as it HAS NOW been revealed by the Spirit to Gods holy apostles and prophets
Revelation 11 (John from Patmos 95 AD - 65 years after Jesus Ascended)
v18 the time has come for judging the dead and for rewarding your sevants the prophets
- Could be refering to the neviim/prophets from the Old Testament but it is not conclusive because all the other’s are present tense and do not refer to people from a specific time frame.
Revelation 18 (John from Patmos 95 AD - 65 years after Jesus Ascended)
v20 Rejouce apostles and naviim/prophets for God has judged her
