Devil

When the ancient scribes had to translate the Hebrew sahtan into Greek, they chose the word Diabolos. Diabolos means one who “throws across” or “casts through.” It refers to one who casts forth accusations, slander, a divider, an accuser, an attacker—and thus the Adversary. The Enemy is the one who casts accusations against all that is, against existence. And so Diabolos became the Greek version of the Hebrew sahtan—the Enemy.
In Latin the word became Diabolus; in Italian, Diavolo; and in English—Devil. So the word Devil is the English version of a Greek translation of the Hebrew sahtan //Satan//.
