Bible term “a thousand”

The term “a thousand” can be found as a figure of speech meaning “a big number of indeterminate quantity.” For example, Ps 91.7 uses “a thousand” for a big number of soldiers on the battlefield and “ten thousand” as an even bigger number of soldiers.

Psalm 91:7–8 (ESV)

7A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

8You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked.
