40 Mt 7.6 Do not throw your pearls before pigs

Matthew 7:6 (ESV)

6“Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you.

Jesus’ point was to not waste time and effort presenting and arguing the gospel of the kingdom, and by extension the gospel of Christ, to people determined to reject it.

An example is Mt 13.53-58 which records Jesus’ experience in His hometown. Travelling through Galilee preaching the gospel and liberally presenting His miraculous messianic credentials, especially wholesale healing of everyone and everything brought to Him, Jesus did not feel free to do so in His hometown whose citizens, His childhood neighbors, refused to believe His claims of deity.
