Anabaptist view

Excerpts from ChristianHistory.org article, "Covenant Children":

Moravian Anabaptist leader Balthasar Hubmaier, "On the Christian Baptism of Believers (1525)", argued that only adults who had confessed faith in Christ should be baptized. He wrote: "The word or teaching should precede the outward baptism, along with the determination to change one’s life by the help of God.”

Anabaptists viewed baptism a sign of the actual salvation of an understanding, believing person, as opposed to the potential salvation of an infant; and that only such persons comprised the church.
