Why should a person believing in Christ as his Lord and Savior be baptized?
Because in Matthew 3.13-15, and Mark 1.9-10 Jesus, the example of the perfect believer, chose to be baptized.
Because in Matthew 28.19 Jesus, in commanding His disciples to carry the gospel to peoples throughout the world, mentioned baptism as the thing He wanted done for believers.
John 4.1-2 describes how Jesus and His disciples showed this example. When people decided to follow Jesus and become one of His disciples, Jesus’ disciples baptized such people.
Because baptism, as seen in John 4.1-2, appears to be a person’s first obedience when he has decided to be one of Jesus’ followers.
Because in Acts 2.38 when people responded to Peter’s gospel message he said, “repent and be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for (meaning “because of”) the forgiveness of your sins.”
