Occult means hidden

The reality of the demonic

Where they came from: angels who rebelled with lucifer, 2 Pet 2.4, Jude 6

Lucifer means light-bearer

How they come against people: 3 ways

Oppression. Ac 10.38. "Oppressed" means to rule over someone; James used the same word talking about how rich oppress the poor

Obsession. "Vexing" in Lk 6.18, ac 5.16. Webster says vex and obsess are synonyms. Oppression is external; obsession is from within, dealing with the mind and spirit. People obsessed with sex, drugs, garret and revenge, weird and strange ideas. Obsessions that consume their minds and energies.

Possession. Mk 1.32. "Devils", in plural, always refers to demons. It means the evil spirit dwells in man's human spirit and interacts with the man's spirit to direct the mind and the body -- taking the place and the role in the possessed person designed for the Holy Spirit. Thus the person is expressing the life of satan in his life.

A child of God can be oppressed, and by violating Eph 4.27 (don't give place to the devil) can be obsessed; but, being already permanently possesed and indwelt by the Holy Spirit, cannot be possessed by an evil spirit.
