Temple destroyed by King Nebuchadnezzar
After Solomon completed building the Temple God told him (2 Chron 9.1-9) if he remained faithful to God his royal throne would be established forever, but if he turned away from God Israel would be evicted from their land and the temple destroyed.
Solomon turned aside from following God, and so this prophesy was fulfilled by the Babylonians in 586 B.C. as recorded in 2 Chron 36.17-21, especially 2 Chron 36.19, and lamented in Is 64.11.
The prophesy: 1 Ki 9.8, Jer 7.8-15
The fulfillment: 2 Ki 25.8-11, 2 Chron 36.17-21, Jer 52.12-15
Lamentation over the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple: Ps 74.4-8, Ps 79.1, Lam 4.1-2
