Marcionism

Marcion of Sinope, at Rome, around 144 A.D. originated the heresy of dualism (“Marcionism”). Propounding a dualism similar to Gnosticism, Marcion posited opposing gods: a “lower god”, the wrathful, Hebrew God; and the higher all-forgiving God of the New Testament. Thus Marcion rejected the Hebrew Bible and the God of Israel.
