Rahab, a name for Egypt

As in Isaiah 30.7, God refers to Egypt as Rahab. The Bible Knowledge Commentary's comment on Ps 87.4 says, "'Rahab,' representing Egypt, was probably the name of a powerful demonic force thought to be behind that nation."

MacArthur notes that Rahab was a monster of ancient pagan mythology (Ps 89.10, Is 51.9), and symbolized Egypt in the OT (Isaiah 30.7).
