ca sen Energy, Utilities & Comms Comm
Tomorrow the Utilities and Energy Committee in the California Assembly might consider legislation practically written by the Western States Petroleum Association.
- It creates a toothless cap and trade program without meaningful prices
- It allows dangerous local air pollution to increase
- It takes away local authority to limit greenhouse gases from the air districts
Climate groups and Environmental Justice groups are unified in opposing this in the strongest possible way. Sadly, Governor Brown is the source for this terrible proposal. The new bill has not yet been assigned a number, but may receive one tomorrow.
PLEASE CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE TODAY!
If you are unsure of who that is, or their number, Communities for a Better Environment has set up this phone number you can call:
916-694-1101
Ask them to reject any cap and trade bill that doesn’t protect local communities from pollution and takes away the air district’s ability to regulate greenhouse gases.
Tell them you want them to support strong climate legislation like Senator DeLeon’s SB 100 for 100% renewable energy.
LET THEM KNOW WE CARE, AND WE’RE WATCHING THEM!
