A right-wing group in Missouri has launched (https://libertyallianceusa.com/woke-heat-map/) a "woke heat map" documenting instances of "wokeness" in an attempt to fight back against "critical race theory" and alleged "grooming" in schools across the state.

The group, dubbed "Liberty Alliance," says it is "committed to fighting back against the Woke agenda that is permeating all across Missouri."

"The first step in fighting back is uncovering their crazy ideas – from Critical Race Theory to grooming toddlers with sexually explicit books," the organization states on its website. "That is why we have officially launched the Woke Heat Map – an interactive tool designed to expose the insane actions of the radical Left. This map will alert Missourians of craziness happening in their own communities."

"‘Liberty Alliance’ has launched a ‘Woke Interactive Map’ to warn MAGA about instances of woke behavior in a particular community. The site will alert people if either: 1. CRT, 2. Woke Extremism, or 3. ‘Action by a Crazy Leftist’ has taken place," Ron Filipkowski tweeted (https://twitter.com/RonFilipkowski/status/1531034501379502090).

"This is the “Genderbread Person” & the latest example of the insanity that’s in Missouri schools," Eric Schmitt tweeted (https://twitter.com/Eric_Schmitt/status/1514240964755345421). "We launched The Students First Initiative to empower parents & bring transparency back to Missouri schools. This was submitted by a Fox C-6 parent We’ll keep exposing the extremism."

Another Twitter user added (mailto:A%20reminder%20that%20on%20college%20campuses,%20anyone%20that%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20fall%20in%20line%20with%20the%20left%20are%20censored%20%20Where%20are%20you%20at%20@SLU_Official?%20These%20actions%20continued%20into%20the%20night%20and%20no%20one%20has%20been%20punished%20for%20vandalizing%20a%20peaceful%20#prolife%20@SLUSFL%20display%20%20#FreeSpeech%20@StudentsforLife), "A reminder that on college campuses, anyone that doesn’t fall in line with the left are censored Where are you at @SLU_Official (https://twitter.com/SLU_Official?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1458074931502239755%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.alternet.org%2Fr%2Fentryeditor%2F2657639567publish)? Liberty Alliance's map isn't the first of its kind. Over the years, numerous right-wing groups have created rankings, watchlists, and cluster maps to keep track of the left's alleged influence in healthcare and education as well as Corporate America.

Last October, Salon reported (https://www.salon.com/2021/10/30/co-opting-the-message-how-anti-trans-activists-hijacked-a-tool-meant-to-help-trans-people/) on a custom Google map created by trans activist Erin Reed that provides those seeking hormone replacement therapy with the names and locations of nearly 800 informed consent clinics throughout the country.By February of that year, Reed told Salon, her map was repurposed by anti-trans activist Alix Aharon as a resource for organizing protests against doctorswho provide gender-affirming care. That new map, called "The Gender Mapper (https://www.gendermapper.org/name-and-shame-doctors)," was quickly taken down over apparent copyright infringement. However, a new one has since appeared in its place, cataloging roughly 200 clinics in total.

On its website, The Gender Mapper accuses (https://www.gendermapper.org/) "Big Gender" of testing "experimental medication" on "confused and vulnerable children."

"GenderMapper volunteers work in secret, around the world to collate evidence and document what is occurring," the site adds. "Gendermapper volunteers are unsung [sic] heros- and data is our truth."

Right-wing groups have also sought to crack down on left-wing "indoctrination" on college campuses.

Notable among them isTurning Point USA, a conservative youth advocacy group, which runs a "Professor Watchlist (https://professorwatchlist.org/)" designed to keep right-wing students abreast of "college professors who discriminate against conservative students and advance leftist propaganda in the classroom."...

Right-wing media use Tulsi Gabbard's flimsy memo to call for imprisoning Obama

The right-wing media efforts to implicate Obama come as Trump tries to deflect from the Epstein files

Written by Gideon Taaffe & Chloe Simon

Published 07/23/25

As the MAGA world continues to rail against the Trump administration over the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard issued a report suggesting former President Barack Obama pressured national intelligence agencies to fabricate or exaggerate Russia’s attempts to influence the 2016 election in favor of President Donald Trump.

Right-wing media have reacted to the story — which Trump has seized on as he tries to distract from the Epstein chaos — by demanding or predicting that Obama be charged for “treason” and “seditious conspiracy” in a “military tribunal” or accusing him of orchestrating “a three-year project to overturn the will of the American people and to destroy an administration.”

BENNY JOHNSON (HOST): I mean, you're simply left to assume that all of it's been a lie and that they're 100% authentic, and I think most people in this audience already believe that.

But then if that's the case, then there's a lot of questions that are gonna be asked of Hillary Clinton. Now there's reports that Hillary Clinton and her team were aggressively pushing Barack Obama to launch Russiagate. We'll wait to see those documents — perhaps that's what Tulsi Gabbard is telling us is going to be dropping soon. We're not sure. But Tulsi Gabbard is saying not only are there major whistleblowers from inside the IC, but also that there's a lot more to come. And, you know, at what point do you begin to pull the threads back to Hillary Clinton? Could she potentially be culpable in any of this?

JULIE KELLY (HOST): I doubt it. I mean, you know, let's cut to the chase. No one's gonna indict Hillary Clinton. No one's gonna indict Barack Obama. So we can, I think, disabuse ourselves of that vision or —

JOHNSON: Really? You don't think Obama either?

KELLY: No. No. No. No. No. No. And, you know, of course, you got the issue with Barack Obama. What would you charge him with? We have the immunity ruling from the Supreme Court, really, a year ago that carves out only specific instances where a president in office could be held criminally liable. And I'm sure that Barack Obama, if anything came down, would be smart enough and his lawyers would figure that out. So no.

But look. I really wanna see the henchmen like Lisa Monaco — and I know I keep going back to her. But look, she also ran the Biden DOJ. So she was the one that really ran the first two invest — the two investigations into the president for classified documents and for January 6. She, I'm sure, worked with special counsel Jack Smith, was involved in his appointment. People from the DOJ leaving the Department of Justice, going to the special counsel's office — Chuck Grassley just, last week, I believe, the last several days, releasing emails showing how Tom Windom, another prosecutor who went to the DCUS attorney's office, which was in constant contact with the DOJ, I'm told, specifically Lisa Monaco's office, how he was pushing top-down the FBI to open this January 6 investigation into the president, which of course they did.

So I'm looking for a lot more records related to that as well. And so, those are the people who I think are the most likely to be held responsible, criminally liable, and the ones who should be.

STEPHEN MILLER (GUEST): Why is it that Democrats are so insistent that unlimited numbers of illegals from countries that are incapable of managing their own affairs come here? Countries like Somalia, countries like Haiti, countries that have no history of successful self-government, and they want unlimited numbers of illegals from those countries and refugees from those countries to come here with no chance -- at the pace, the scale, the scope of arrivals -- at being able to assimilate and integrate into the American way of life.

What has it done to our schools? What has it done to our hospitals? What has it done to just traffic in our cities? Every issue that affects our quality of life, Jesse -- public safety, drugs, crime, education, health care, waiting in the emergency room -- are all exacerbated, worsened, and undermined by mass illegal immigration. ICE officers are heroes and they need the support of the American people. President Trump is liberating our towns just as he was promised, just as the American people overwhelmingly voted to give him a mandate to do just five months ago.

JESSE WATTERS (HOST): It's straight up treason and everybody knows it, and we shouldn't be afraid to say it. AFRAID OF WHO?

AN 6 25

Just one day after a widely criticized, multimillion-dollar military parade marking both the U.S. Army’s birthday and his own—and amid millions attending thousands of nationwide “No Kings” protests (https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2025/06/15/how-many-people-attended-no-kings/84219725007/)—President Donald Trump (https://www.alternet.org/2020/11/trump) announced on Sunday night a new crackdown (https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114690267066155731) targeting undocumented immigrants exclusively in Democratic-led strongholds, declaring that blue cities “are the core of the Democrat Power Center.”

Some critics also note that the move comes after a suspect, reportedly a Trump supporter, allegedly assassinated a Democratic Minnesota lawmaker (https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cg5v5l4eylyo) and her spouse and gravely shot and wounded another Democratic lawmaker and his spouse on the same day as the anti-Trump rallies in all 50 states.

In a 400-word Sunday night “order” on social media, President Trump claimed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents (ICE) every day face “threats from Radical Democrat Politicians,” as he announced “the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History,” before baselessly claiming voter fraud.

“Every day, the Brave Men and Women of ICE are subjected to violence, harassment, and even threats from Radical Democrat Politicians, but nothing will stop us from executing our mission, and fulfilling our Mandate to the American People. ICE Officers are herewith ordered, by notice of this TRUTH, to do all in their power to achieve the very important goal of delivering the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History,” the President wrote.

“In order to achieve this, we must expand efforts to detain and deport Illegal Aliens in America’s largest Cities, such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, where Millions upon Millions of Illegal Aliens reside,” Trump continued. “These, and other such Cities, are the core of the Democrat Power Center, where they use Illegal Aliens to expand their Voter Base, cheat in Elections, and grow the Welfare State, robbing good paying Jobs and Benefits from Hardworking American Citizens. These Radical Left Democrats are sick of mind, hate our Country, and actually want to destroy our Inner Cities — And they are doing a good job of it! There is something wrong with them. That is why they believe in Open Borders, Transgender for Everybody, and Men playing in Women’s Sports.”

Critics blasted the President and issued warnings.

“This is illegal on so many levels,” charged (https://x.com/hissgoescobra/status/1934436279153754246) John Jackson, a former trial lawyer. “He’s declaring war on specific areas based entirely on their voter registration, which is a form of speech and protected political choice. It’s ‘vote Republican or I will punish you.’ Incredible. Out in the open. Lawless.”

“2 implications of Trump specifically targeting immigrants in Democratic cities: He’s NOT going after immigrants in places where they are least welcome,” observed (https://x.com/davidbadash/status/1934449759005061250) former Washington Post editor Robert McCartney. “He IS doing what’s most likely to provoke backlash. We conclude that his goal is not to ‘solve’ the problem but to stir chaos.”

“This is the politicization of law enforcement. It’s not about ‘immigration,’ it’s about demonizing cities, harming political enemies and winning elections,” declared (https://x.com/anneapplebaum/status/1934500340763935000) The Atlantic’s Anne Applebaum. “Also, those are the cities that had the biggest No Kings protests.”

Pointing to Trump’s full screed, political strategist Rachel Bitecofer noted (https://x.com/rachelbitecofer/status/1934455192109609087), “Please go study how the Nazis talked about the Jews to whip the public up into accepting restricting them from society, deporting them, and ultimately murdering them. It will sound a lot like this.”

“Trump is going after Blue cities based on nothing more than the crazy, conspiratorial voices in his head,” wrote (https://x.com/DarrigoMelanie/status/1934419297297650019) Melanie D’Arrigo, executive director of the Campaign for New York Health. “He’s already violating our 1st, 4th, 5th & 14th Amendments, and deploying the U.S. military against citizens in L.A. This is what authoritarianism looks like.”

“He’s openly admitting that he’s politicizing law enforcement,” observed (https://x.com/chucktodd/status/1934427597074563387) Chuck Todd, the former NBC News Chief Political Analyst and “Meet the Press” moderator. “This will not help ICE’s image because he’s asking them to perform a political task. Throw in the decision to shield the red states from law enforcement and he’s clearly hoping to provoke an angry response. At a moment when we need a president to de-escalate, he does the opposite.”

“Trump’s ugly plan is clear: Incite violence in blue cities & blue states only, and then put the military on the streets in those blue cities & blue states only,” warned (https://x.com/WalshFreedom/status/1934597871904715034) former Tea Party GOP Congressman Joe Walsh, now a Democrat and political commentator. “Everything he does is meant to divide us. He is the absolute worst of us.”

“This sort of dehumanizing language about political opponents is exactly what leads to the horrific shootings we saw yesterday, wrote (https://x.com/MeidasTouch/status/1934414116095201715) MeidasTouch News. “Disgraceful and dangerous.”

“One of his crazed supporters just assassinated a Democrat and he continues to instigate division and hatred, noted (https://x.com/SenAnaliseOrtiz/status/1934499301830590617) Arizona Democratic state Senator Analise Ortiz. “We need an adult in the White House, not a dictator hell bent on escalating tensions and political violence.”

Progressive media outlet The Tennessee Holler wrote (https://x.com/TheTNHoller/status/1934416083240489008) that “the president posting that Dems are ‘sick of mind’ and ‘hate our country’ immediately after 2 Dem lawmakers and their spouses were shot in their homes is the opposite of leadership. Gas on the fire.”

“A US president is supposed to be the president of all the people,” wrote (https://x.com/Anne_Arbor/status/1934505343431700577) retired Professor of Law Anne Arbor. “This man instead foments hatred of his own political party against his political opponents. This statement verges on a declaration of civil war against half the country.”

// D’SOUZA BS DOCU DIXIECRATS--> GOP, DEFLECTION BC ARE NOW RACISTS ON IMMIGRANTS

June 9, 2025, edition of Newsmax's Chris Plante: The Right Squad

CHRIS PLANTE (HOST): And honestly it was Joe Biden and the Democrats that locked down Washington, D.C under military control around the time of his inauguration because they're such victims. But, you know, President Trump and federal officials are fighting to keep our streets safe while the left — and they are definitely the international left — they want criminal gang bangers to be loose on the street and threaten American lives and kill and rape and loot and plunder, which they've been doing for as long as the Democrats have been encouraging it.

Here are just a few examples of illegal alien criminals that Immigration Customs Enforcement removed from the Los Angeles streets.

...

That's just a few of the criminal illegal aliens that ICE removed very recently from the streets of Los Angeles. And the Democrats are out there rioting and burning things because criminals are being pulled off. I think they like criminals. All of this while the left still fights to keep them loose on the streets.

TIANNA LOWE DOESCHER (GUEST): Remember MeToo, Chris? As a feminist, I voted for this. I voted to get rid of the criminals, rapists, and murderers. The — to Jason's point, the last time the president overrode a governor to bring in the National Guard was JFK [LBJ?]to desegregate the University of Alabama. Because guess what? The law of the land was you can't be a federal university and discriminate against Black students —

PLANTE: And a Democrat governor named George Wallace.

DOESCHER: Yes. And guess what? The current law of the land is you can't harbor convicted rapists and murderers, even though that is California state statute, right? This is a law that Gavin Newsom has on the books that they are not allowed to assist federal law enforcement. And look, if you want to burn — as a liberal, I hope actual liberals don't want to burn through all their credibility defending the worst of the worst, because that's how you wind up never getting a DACA for a wall deal —

MATTHEW FOLDI (GUEST): I think they want to burn through not only their credibility, they want to burn through the gates of the ICE facilities to let those people out.

PLANTE: Well, yeah. And also it was Republican President Dwight Eisenhower sent 101st Airborne down to Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1957 to move Democrat Governor Orval Faubus away from the front door of Central High School.

DOESCHER: And that was a good thing.

PLANTE: Yeah. And it was Democrat versus Republican and Republican versus Democrat, as is so often the case. The Democrats are just — I mean, at what point are they declared to be a terrorist organization — with all of the affiliations and all the violence and the shootings and the firebombings and the targeting Jews and on and on? You know, as the left squeals, whines and attacks the police over deportations of illegal alien criminals, this is exactly what we, the American people, voted for on Election Day. And overwhelming majority of Americans back President Trump on his immigration policies. Even left wing media can't deny it. CBS fake news poll showing that President Trump's deportation program nets very positive approval ratings from the American people.

From the moment President Donald Trump refused to accept his loss in the 2020 election, he made it clear (https://www.texastribune.org/2023/03/25/donald-trump-waco-rally-retribution-justice/) that he was intent on returning to the White House in 2024 to enact retribution against his enemies.

"If you put me back in the White House, their reign will be over and they know it," Trump proclaimed (https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2023/03/04/trump_i_am_your_warrior_i_am_your_justice_and_i_am_your_retribution.html) when he spoke at CPAC in 2023. "In 2016, I declared, I am your voice. Today, I add, I am your warrior, I am your justice, and for those who have been wronged and betrayed, I am your retribution. I am your retribution."

Since taking office, Trump has ruthlessly (https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/07/briefing/donald-trump-retribution.html) followed (https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-administration-swiftly-enacts-retribution-political-enemies-rcna188763) through (https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trump-steps-make-campaign-promise-seek-retribution-reality/story?id=121125087) on his promise (https://apnews.com/article/trump-retribution-columbia-paul-weiss-law-firms-40c8cbafaa3592a6b2cc5858770d3731), using the power of the government to relentlessly (https://www.npr.org/2025/04/29/nx-s1-5327518/donald-trump-100-days-retribution-threats) target his enemies (https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2025/04/07/us/trump-revenge-list.html).

Thus, it was rather surprising to hear former congresswoman and unabashed (https://www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch/post/michele-bachmann-we-will-never-see-a-more-godly-biblical-president-than-trump) Trump cultist (https://www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch/post/michele-bachmann-trump-deserves-prayer-and-support-because-hes-the-most-biblical-president-ever) Michele Bachmann declare during a recent episode (https://youtu.be/otPBQrcjGMk?si=BIruuy2F36Q_HG3j) of the "Understanding The Times" program that Democrats must never be allowed to gain power again because "they're going to bring retribution against us."

"They want to undermine our choice," Bachmann said. "We made our choices as to who we wanted to serve us and be in public office. So, these Democrats—who are like wild people right now—they want to undermine our choices. They aren't focused on solving problems. They aren't [focused] on making our lives better or bringing down costs. What do they want? They want power. So these are the last people we should ever give power to because they want power for power's sake."

"You just had Rep. Jamie Raskin, a male member of Congress, who said when they get back in power, they're going to bring retribution against us because they don't like us very much," she added. "This is a dictatorship mentality."

For the record, the remarks to which Bachmann was referring did not consist of Rep. Raskin vowing to bring retribution against conservatives and Republicans but rather consisted of Raskin decrying (https://democrats-judiciary.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=5627) "the Trump Administration’s agenda of lawlessness and retribution at the Federal Bureau of Investigation" and its attacks on (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjD6K3mnPYo) former administration officials.

AN 4 25

In hisEaster morning pos (https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114370361342759621)t earlier this month, President Donald Trump’s wished a happy holiday to “the Radical Left Lunatics … fighting and scheming so hard to bring Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners." The president's post was criticized by many as being too divisive, but evangelicals supported the president's controversial message.

In an article published Monday (https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/apr/28/trump-evangelicals-christians), Guardian quoted Jackson Lahmeyer, the founder of the Pastors for Trump (https://www.alternet.org/2020/11/trump) organization who supported the president's Easter message, as saying: “You cannot unify with evil.”

Several white evangelical leaders continue to back Trump vigorously, even in light of what many consider to be violent and extremist rhetoric. Many people view this narrative as inappropriate for any religious event, especially one closely associated with themes of renewal, forgiveness, and peace.

"To evangelical leaders, that emphasis on Christian values stands in contrast to how they perceive the Biden administration’s actions, including in 2024 declaring 31 March Transgender Day of Visibility, the date when it had been celebrated since its creation in 2009, but last year fell – entirely coincidentally – on Easter Sunday," the Guardian article noted.

Brad Sherman, an Iowa pastor and Republican now running for governor, told Guardian: "Easter was barely mentioned."

That is not true.

The tradition of the annual White House Easter egg roll continued under Biden's presidency. In a statement made last Easter, the former president said: “As we gather with loved ones, we remember Jesus’s sacrifice … with wars and conflict taking a toll on innocent lives around the world, we renew our commitment to work for peace, security, and dignity for all people.”

This means that some of the evangelical support for Trump may be based on misinformation that Biden did not celebrate Christian traditions in the White House.

This year, Trump hosted an Easter prayer service and dinner attended by Lahmeyer, well-known pastors like Franklin Graham and Robert Jeffress, as well as his personal pastor, Paula White-Cain, who currently heads the White House faith office, among others.

JESSE WATTERS (CO-HOST): We didn't want to kill Barack Obama, we just didn't think he was legally qualified to be president because of where he was born. And then Hillary, we didn't want to kill, we were just so afraid of her, we thought she'd kill us first.

But we do this in other countries. The CIA literally uses the same exact propaganda to stir up cultures in other countries to topple dictatorships we don't like. Now, we're doing it in our own country, and it's like almost working.

Rep. Glenn Grothman says (https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/?ref=watch_permalink&v=1394828745006261) that "there are a lot of people driven by hatred, which is what I think causes them to become Democrats in the first place."

Steve Deace tells (https://www.youtube.com/live/46kKT4j91l0?si=EuXf2wxM7dYvPQzB&t=470) Republicans to move hard to the right and then govern effectively to "completely marginalize the Democratic Party."

Kandiss Taylor promises (https://x.com/KandissTaylor/status/1897303980872753619) that, if elected to Congress (https://www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch/christian-nationalist-conspiracy-theorist-kandiss-taylor-running-congress), she "will set a high bar in Congress for honesty."

Lucas Gage claims (https://x.com/LucasGageXL/status/1897295621004124446) that the Founding Fathers created a system where only white landowners could vote "and everyone else just had to step in line": "Our country was great when we had an aristocracy."

Joel Webbon insists (https://x.com/rightresponsem/status/1897154098346197013) that "it is not safe for my children to share a country with Democrats."

Finally, George Pearsons brags (https://rumble.com/v6q4mps-flashpoint-live-starting-at-7pm-ct.html?start=12233) that Kenneth Copeland "literally prophesied" that Donald Trump would become president. Of course, Copeland and Pearsons also literally prophesied (https://www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch/post/kenneth-copeland-declares-that-ted-cruz-has-been-called-and-anointed-by-god-to-be-the-next-president) that Ted Cruz would become president.

AN 2 25

Trump (https://www.alternet.org/2020/11/trump) was able to be elected president a second time partly by mobilizing his base of Christian nationalists. This anti-Democratic group has an “us vs. them” mentality, believing that America is on the verge of an apocalypse and that they are being persecuted. In her new book, "Money, Lies, and God: Inside the Movement to Destroy American Democracy (https://bookshop.org/a/2464/9781635578546)," journalist Katherine Stewart investigates this voter base. Salon published an interview (https://www.salon.com/2025/02/18/his-mission-is-to-eradicate-woke-jesus-how-money-lies-and-religion-are-abused-to-gut-democracy/) with her Tuesday.

This subculture, Stewart argues, believes America should move past democracy. “They believe the U.S. is not founded on principles, but on a specific religious and cultural heritage,” she said. “They argue America is on the brink of an apocalypse, owing to the rise of equality and what they call ‘wokeness.’ They argue democracy, as a system, isn't sufficient to meet the ‘challenges’ of feminism and equality. They believe the democratic rules no longer apply, because we're facing this absolute apocalypse of equality. They want an authoritarian leader who puts himself above the law, who's going to seize the reins of power and scrap the rule of law in favor of the iron fist.”

One of the three major tenants of this mindset is the belief that the country is nearing an apocalypse.

READ MORE:'A lot of MAGA': 20 million Americans could lose health coverage under new GOP bill (https://www.alternet.org/medicaid-cuts-2671187457/)

“This is what authoritarian leaders do,” she explained. “Christian nationalism is not just an ideology. It's also not just a political movement. It's a mindset… First is ‘us versus them’ or ‘pure versus the impure,’ or those who properly ‘belong’ in the country, and those who do not. Second, there's a sense of persecution. They claim white conservative Christians are being persecuted more than any other group in society. Third is the sense that we're facing an apocalypse. They share this view with the new right. It's always, ‘If we don't win this election, we're gonna go under the control of the Illuminati and the devil's gonna be controlling us for hundreds of years. So it's any means necessary to ‘save’ us from this terrible fate.”

“Those three ideas,” she continued, “clear the way for the acceptance of an authoritarian leader, someone who doesn't respect the rules, who will punish their enemies, and who will suspend the rule of law. If you look at what's happening in our politics today, you can see it playing out before our eyes. In the first weeks of the Trump presidency, we're seeing a version of Project 2025. They've been telling us for a long time they're going to smash the institutions that safeguard our democracy. That's what they're doing.”

But the members of this group have been “colossally misinformed.”

“Many of these supporters don't recognize that American democracy might be destroyed. Some don't care. They think it's more important to put a strong man in power to demolish the supposedly dangerous radical left. But whether they don't care or don't know, it's because they've been colossally misinformed. That's how they rationalize their choices at the ballot box. And I would have to say this is not just about Trump. Authoritarianism loves a misinformed public. The anti-democratic movement has funded this massive propaganda campaign that has led us to where we are today,” she said.

Here is an excerpt from the book, published by Rolling Stone (https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-features/money-lies-god-book-trump-anti-democratic-movement-1235269102/):

“Power has not softened the base of this movement. It’s not just blood that they’re after; they want a show. This is the thing that Trump surely understands best. Policy simply doesn’t matter. You can kill off grandma through vaccine denial, take away health insurance, bust unions, drive up inflation, and reward your billionaire friends with policies that benefit their bloated bottom lines. None of that matters as long as you give the people the pleasure of a good performance, where they can project their frustrations and resentments on the targets they have been trained to hate.”

OMFG

Eric Metaxas declares (https://x.com/ericmetaxas/status/1891779365710516365) that "the evil and corruption being uncovered in our govt is too horrible for most of us to process. It's like the world in 1945 for the first time seeing that the Nazis systematically murdered millions. It's simply unfathomable in its evil."

Tim Barton has (https://www.buzzsprout.com/2077254/episodes/16640112?t=1523) a question: "Why do we think it's okay to arrest students that break the Ten Commandments, but not okay to show them the Ten Commandments to teach them it's wrong?"

Joel Webbon says (https://www.youtube.com/live/yimJ7kE6134?t=3242s) "we need to repeal not just the 19th Amendment, we need to repeal the entire 20th Century."

Stew Peters really loves (https://x.com/RightWingWatch/status/1891894584705245391) Adolf Hitler.

Joshua Haymes says (https://x.com/haymes_joshua/status/1891633931079881087) that feminism is "evil" and "cringe" and biblical patriarchy (https://x.com/haymes_joshua/status/1891601368517107726) is the only solution.

Finally, Richard Harris wants (https://www.youtube.com/live/2Dcuo_ThbH8?si=lCMUBH2O8PiENYYu&t=505) to return to an America where there are no casinos or tattoo parlors, kids are praying in schools, abortion is outlawed, and businesses closed on Sunday.

William Wolfe claims (https://www.youtube.com/live/py-QOd1b5u4?si=MuH156wzONOr_Vqq&t=2019) that saying that Jesus Christ was a refugee amounts to taking the Lord's name is vain.

Virulent antisemite Lucas Gage asserts (https://x.com/LucasGageX/status/1886251288494776647) that "we must dehumanize our enemies": "Those who invade and demand to live among us against our will are, by definition, parasites. Start calling them what they are."

Wendy Rogers says (https://t.me/wendyrogersaz/8495) that "with this constant stream of disasters, all I keep thinking is that I’m grateful to have competent ADULTS BACK IN CHARGE." Did it ever occur to Rogers that maybe the "adults in charge" might be responsible for "this constant stream of disasters"?

Christian nationalist C. Jay Engel is thrilled (https://x.com/contramordor/status/1886208343808540902) by the actions taken by President Donald Trump: "I didn’t vote for cheaper eggs or more efficient computers. I voted to repeal the twentieth century."

Texas state Rep. Brent Money told (https://www.youtube.com/live/2y-LthnFhrk?si=PsRG7RDMH0Vu6DfR&t=2913) Christian nationalist pastor Joel Webbon that "we always need to find ways to better conform the law to God's intent for mankind."

Finally, speaking of Webbon, he used his Sunday sermon to declare (https://www.youtube.com/live/2o9CF3Xk-cM?si=R8csJCBn_77nRIeq&t=3896) that "you have not met wickedness until you have met 20th Century liberals": "They're not merely infidels, not merely unbelievers; they are something far more unnatural and degraded than that. The 19th and 20th Century liberal today is not merely an unregenerate man, he is a monster."

During the final hours of his presidency — with President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration only hours away — Joe Biden announced his last-minute preemptive pardons (https://www.newsweek.com/fauci-milley-january-6-committee-pardon-maga-fury-biden-pardon-trump-2017701), making it clear that he was determined to shield those he pardoned from frivolous prosecutions under the new administration.

The pardons included Dr. Anthony Fauci, former director the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID); Gen. Mark Milley, ex-chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; and former members of the January 6 Select Committee, including ex-Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) and ex-Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Illinois).

Biden, in his announcement (https://apnews.com/article/biden-trump-fauci-milley-pardons-january-6-3cba287f89051513fb48d7ae700ae747), stated, "Our nation relies on dedicated, selfless public servants every day. They are the lifeblood of our democracy." In certain cases, some have even been threatened with criminal prosecutions, including General Mark A. Milley, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and members and staff of the Select Committee to investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol…. These public servants have served our nation with honor and distinction and do not deserve to be the targets of unjustified and politically motivated prosecutions."

READ MORE:Biden preemptively pardons members of January 6 panel and other Trump targets (https://www.alternet.org/biden-pardons/?utm_source=push_notifications)

The outgoing president emphatically added (https://www.newsweek.com/fauci-milley-january-6-committee-pardon-maga-fury-biden-pardon-trump-2017701) that "the issuance of these pardons should not be mistaken as an acknowledgment that any individual engaged in any wrongdoing, nor should acceptance be misconstrued as an admission of guilt for any offense."

On X, formerly Twitter, far-right Trump (https://www.alternet.org/2020/11/trump) supporters were quick to attack Biden for the pardons, from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (https://x.com/RepMTG/status/1881318296043303232) (R-Georgia) to Fox News' Laura Ingraham (https://x.com/IngrahamAngle/status/1881330849871994932).

Greene tweeted (https://x.com/RepMTG/status/1881318296043303232), "Pardoned because they are guilty of CRIMES. Never forget what they did and who the Democrats are. The mask is completely OFF."

Ingraham posted (https://x.com/IngrahamAngle/status/1881330849871994932), "With the Fauci and Milley pardons, Biden shows that he is the one who will violate any norm. Good riddance to him, his puppet masters and all those who enabled The Lie. ("Biden's as sharp as ever.") A new dawn is here!"

READ MORE:Trump’s second term could face the 'same disastrous end' as Grover Cleveland’s: presidential historian (https://www.alternet.org/donald-trump-grover-cleveland/)

Infowars host Alex Jones remarked (https://x.com/RealAlexJones/status/1881334329999229345), "Biden issues 11th hour pardons of globalist crime syndicate members! The DEEP STATE is running scared!"

Turning Point USA's Charlie Kirk wrote (https://x.com/charliekirk11/status/1881332602298405003), "Biden just preemptively pardoned Fauci, Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, Mark Milley and all staff of the J6 Committee. They know at noon everything changes. This is a provocation. Shock and awe time. High noon is almost here."

Kylie Jane Kremer, executive director of Women for America First, tweeted (https://x.com/KylieJaneKremer/status/1881321874283721022): "FK YOU to the Deep State & the Staffers who are lying & pretending Joe Biden is pardoning anyone. Joe Biden DOESN'T HAVE THE MENTAL CAPACITY TO PARDON ANYONE! An investigation needs to be opened on these treasonous pigs who just pardoned the J6 Committee, Milley, & Fauci TODAY."

But other X users have applauded the preemptive pardons.

The conservative Republicans Against Trump posted a statement from Milley (https://x.com/RpsAgainstTrump/status/1881331524026429755).

The ex-Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman stated, "After forty-three years of faithful service in uniform to our Nation, protecting and defending the Constitution, I do not wish to spend whatever remaining time the Lord grants me fighting those who unjustly might seek retribution for perceived slights. I do not want to put my family, my friends, and those with whom I served through the resulting distraction, expense, and anxiety."

CNN's Dana Bash tweeted (https://x.com/DanaBashCNN/status/1881333815496327309) that Fauci said he is "very appreciative" of the preemptive pardon he received and added, "As (Biden) said, we did nothing wrong, but the baseless accusations and threats are real for me and my family."

MeidasTouch's Ron Filipkowski argued (https://x.com/RonFilipkowski/status/1881340376956666298), "I personally am not a fan of the preemptive pardons for many reasons, but I will say the manic, unhinged and furious reactions of MAGA Republicans, which include calling for state court prosecutions and MORE congressional investigations, proves Biden's point on why he did it."

KrassenCast's Ed Krassenstein tweeted (https://x.com/EdKrassen/status/1881328776413413717), "If you’re upset about Biden pardoning individuals Trump is likely to target with a weaponized justice system, let’s not forget what happened during Trump’s first term. Trump literally used his pardon power to reward people for trying to obstruct a criminal investigation into himself. Trump pardoned Michael Flynn, who was convicted of lying to the FBI during its investigation into TRUMP."

Krassenstein continued (https://x.com/EdKrassen/status/1881328776413413717), "He pardoned Paul Manafort, who was convicted of witness tampering and obstructing the DOJ's investigation into Trump. And he pardoned Steve Bannon, who was charged with defrauding Trump’s own supporters through a fundraising scheme."

Liberal firebrand and former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann posted (https://x.com/KeithOlbermann/status/1881318079755620382), "Breaking: Biden preemptively pardons Liz Cheney, Fauci, Milley, J6 officers Good. Screws Trump, overshadows his inauguration, ruins his day, protects American heroes."

Olbermann also tweeted (https://x.com/KeithOlbermann/status/1881324998142607570), "Should pardon millions including all media. Should pardon Megyn Kelly for once pissing Trump off. Pardon everybody It ain't Sun Tzu here but when your opponent goes farcical, out farce him."

From the moment Donald Trump lost the 2020 election, far-right evangelist Mario Murillo steadfastly (https://www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch/post/mario-murillo-will-never-accept-that-joe-biden-is-president) refused to accept (https://www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch/post/mario-murillo-says-christians-cannot-accept-the-results-of-this-election) the results (https://www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch/post/mario-murillo-insists-the-election-was-stolen-because-he-cannot-accept-that-americans-are-idiots-who-elected-biden), even going so far as to declare that refusing to accept Biden's presidency was a test of loyalty to God (https://www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch/post/mario-murillo-says-refusing-to-accept-bidens-victory-is-a-test-of-loyalty-to-god).

Throughout the Biden administration (https://x.com/RightWingWatch/status/1377621894044729350), Murillo became increasingly radical (https://www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch/post/mario-murillo-says-god-will-destroy-america-to-save-it-from-democrats), proclaiming (https://x.com/RightWingWatch/status/1512110656048226315) that "the Democratic Party is of Satan" and that President Biden (https://x.com/RightWingWatch/status/1777341104590889148) and Vice President Harris (https://www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch/post/lance-wallnau-and-mario-murillo-say-demonic-power-is-behind-kamala-harris-campaign) were under demonic control (https://www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch/mario-murillo-says-its-not-crazy-idea-claim-demonic-power-driving-kamala-harris). Leading up to the 2024 election, Murillo partnered with fellow dominionist Lance Wallnau and the America First Policy Institute to drive up turnout (https://www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch/post/christian-nationalist-maga-cultists-launch-the-courage-tour-to-put-trump-back-in-office) for Trump among conservative voters.

During the latest episode (https://rumble.com/v67agbg-not-let-them-get-away-with-this-fire-power.html?e9s=src_v1_ucp) of his "Fire Power" program, Murillo continued to spout extremist rhetoric, declaring that with Trump set to return to the White House, Christians must recognize that their political enemies are "monsters" and thus prepare themselves to have "the stomach for war" necessary to destroy them.

"Remember what your enemy has done to you," Murillo proclaimed. "Remember what he's done to your children. Remember what he's done to your freedom. Why is that important? Because we are not finished, folks. This is not the final victory for the American way of life; this is just the beginning."

"Donald Trump entering the White House is step one in a long, protracted cultural war," he continued. "And the body of Christ has got to have the stomach for war and the fire in its belly to finish it. And the only way they're going to keep that fire going is by understanding what monsters these people really are."

"They are monsters," he reiterated.

"You're spot on," agreed co-host Todd Coconato. "They're demonized. Let's just be real. They're demonized. How much [more] blunt can we be?"

"Concerning all the \cabinet] candidates, I really believe we're seeing [Daniel 2 (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Daniel%202&version=NIV) played out where God says I'm going to remove leaders and replace them," Ahn said. "That's what we're seeing. God, in his sovereignty and his mercy on our nation as we have prayed and repented of our sins, he is answering our prayers."

"He's put Trump into position," Ahn continued. "But not only that, [Vice President J.D.] Vance. Are you kidding me? This incredible vice president and as well as the cabinet member, it's like an all-star team, a dream team that you couldn't even figure out or make up. God's doing it and so whoever fights them is really fighting God."

With Trump and his cabinet in place, Ahn proclaimed that America will "have incredible revival and reformation as a result of that for four years and beyond."

Dominionist pastor (https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/former-white-house-press-secretary-kayleigh-mcenany-to-speak-at-dominionist-event/) Ché Ahn appeared at an event in Oklahoma last night (https://rumble.com/v4knoyx-flashpoint-live-tulsa-starting-at-7pm-ct-8pm-ct.html) that was organized by the Christian nationalist (https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/trump-to-appear-on-christian-nationalist-flashpoint-program-tonight/) program “FlashPoint,” where he bragged that several members of his congregation are on the ballot for the November elections in California.

Ahn, a leader (https://wagner.university/) in the New Apostolic Reformation (https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/a-new-guide-to-the-theology-that-drives-trumps-dominionist-prophets-and-apostles/) and head of Harvest International Ministries based in Pasadena, California, was active in the right-wing effort to keep former President Donald Trump in office after he lost the 2020 election, appearing at a rally (https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/christian-nationalism-and-threats-of-violence-at-pro-trump-rally-on-eve-of-electoral-college-certification/) on Jan. 5, 2021—one day before the Capitol insurrection—where he proclaimed that Trump would stay in power and that they would “rule and reign through President Trump and under the lordship of Jesus Christ.”

While Trump did not remain in office, Ahn is still intent on seeing his fellow right-wing Christians “rule and reign” over this nation.

“It is time for the church to rise,” Ahn told the FlashPoint audience. “We have the answers. We are the ones and we can’t just wait for the government—you are his ekklesia (https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/dominionists-head-to-trumps-dc-hotel-to-bring-heavens-rule-to-america/), you are his legislative body of the Kingdom of God and you need to be involved.”

“We’re encouraging people to run for office,” he continued. “For the first time in my network of churches … we have had seven people run in the March 5 primaries. They all ran because we gave them money to win and now they’re facing the election in November. They all won (their primaries). Not one lost.”

IFrame Content (https://player.vimeo.com/video/926354919?h=9e414a0af3)

The mission of the New Apostolic Reformation was explained in a recent Right Wing Watch review (https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/a-new-guide-to-the-theology-that-drives-trumps-dominionist-prophets-and-apostles/) of André Gagné’s book, “American Evangelicals for Trump: Dominion, Spiritual Warfare, and the End Times”:

NAR’s political mission is “no less than the sociopolitical transformation of nations with the goal of bringing about the Kingdom of God on earth,” Gagné writes. Of course, their view of the Kingdom has no room for people who do not share their religious and political worldviews. “Spiritual warfare” must be waged constantly against God’s enemies—which in the U.S. context includes Trump’s opponents—who are under “demonic control.”

As Gagné notes, “This spiritual warfare theology creates conditions which lead to the demonization of peoples, cultures, and political communities.” And that contributes to a toxic political culture in which compromise and pluralism are seen as sinister rather than essential to healthy society and governing, and in which some “prophets” urge people to stockpile weapons and prepare for civil war:

*These Charismatic leaders showed unwavering support for Trump and for his policies an viewed any opposition to the former president as spiritual warfare. They stigmatized and delegitimized their critics, claiming their enemies to be under demonic influence. These enemies include political and religious leaders who do not share the same enthusiasm for Trump and his vision for the United States. Some Charismatics have even prophesized the coming of a second American civil war—encouraging Christians to defend themselves against all opposition to Trump and their plan for a Christian hegemony. Many of these Trump-supporting Charismatics view democratic pluralism with suspicion and often try to silence church leaders who disagree with them. Pluralism is simply—and literally—demonized.

This was not a terrorist attack, it was a wake up call,” reads a line in written notes (https://nevadacurrent.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/PO-003a-01-03-25-Livelsbergers-Letters.pdf) authorities made public last week from Matthew Livelsberger, the driver of the Cybertruck who killed himself in the vehicle shortly before it exploded in front of a Trump (https://www.alternet.org/2020/11/trump) hotel in Las Vegas on New Year’s Day.

The combat veteran’s writings include poignant passages, as when he expressed the need to “cleanse my mind of the brothers I’ve lost and relieve myself of the burden of the lives I took.”

But Livelsberger also expresses warmed-over manosphere tropes and anti-Democratic clichés from the Republican 2024 campaign.

“Masculinity is good and men must be leaders.”

“Thankfully we rejected the DEI candidate and will have a real President instead of Weekend at Bernie’s.”

“Rally around the Trump, Musk, Kennedy, and ride this wave to the highest hegemony for all Americans!”

Those sound pretty much like rote red meat talking points slung around by JD Vance, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Steve Bannon, or whichever Trumpworld podcaster might be trending at any given time.

But other lines in Livelsberger’s notes invoke something less banal, and more violent, envisioning what reads like a January 6 style attack on the nation’s institutions, but on steroids.

“Military and vets move on DC starting now. Militias facilitate and augment this activity.”*

“Occupy every major road along fed buildings and the campus of fed buildings by the hundreds of thousands.”*

“Lock the highways around down with semis right after everybody gets in. Hold until the purge is complete.”*

“Try peaceful means first, but be prepared to fight to get the Dems out of the fed government and military by any means necessary. They all must go and a hard reset must occur for our country to avoid collapse.”*

Briefing reporters last week after Livelsberger’s life ended in a rented Tesla in front of a Trump hotel, law enforcement officials said (https://nevadacurrent.com/briefs/cybertruck-explosion-a-wake-up-call-not-terrorism-driver-wrote-on-iphone/) Livelsberger appeared to have “no animosity” toward Donald Trump.

While delivering that briefing, Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill and FBI Special Agent in Charge Spencer Evans knew that not only did Livelsberger have no animosity toward Trump, but in fact was cheering on Trump, and Trumpism.

McMahill and Evans left that part out, along with Livelsberger’s calls for uprooting people he didn’t agree with from the government and the military “by any means necessary.”

Law enforcement officials weren’t the only ones glossing over the story.

Media reports on Livelsberger, in Nevada and nationally, have downplayed his Trump-friendly extremism, when they’ve mentioned it at all.

When law enforcement officials suggested the Cybertruck driver hadn’t indicated any malice toward Trump (and when they knew but neglected to mention the driver was actually a Trump fan), it seemed a relevant observation at the time, lest the motive for blowing up a truck made and sold by Trump’s right-hand billionaire Elon Musk in front of a hotel with Trump’s name on it might be seen as a statement of disapproval of both men.

Livelsberger’s action clearly wasn’t that. It might have been an homage to them though.

This week law enforcement provided more passages Livelsberger wrote (https://nevadacurrent.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Livelsberger-journal.pdf) in in the days leading up to the explosion, which show Livelsberger used ChatGPT to learn how to turn a Cybertruck into a garbage fire, was convinced he was being tailed on his way to Las Vegas, and had intended to carry out his plan at the Grand Canyon Skywalk.

And in one of the quotes authorities released, Livelsberger wrote (https://nevadacurrent.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/quotes-2.png): “As much as the MSM will paint me out to be some terrorist and monster, I had no intent on taking out anyone but myself if that happens. I am deeply sorry to anyone that gets hurt.”

It didn’t go exactly as Livelsberger intended. Seven people were hurt. Blessedly, their injuries were minor.

And the MSM — the mainstream media — did not paint him out to be some terrorist or monster.

Perhaps had bystanders been seriously injured or killed, the media would be paying more attention to the fact that whatever other things were going on with Livelsberger, one of those things was the radicalization of a Trump sympathizer into a violent extremist.

But as if taking its cue from McMahill and Evans, the media coverage has mostly left that part out.

Well, there have been other salacious or compelling storylines to focus on: a Cybertruck exploding in front of a Trump hotel; “very strange similarities (https://nevadacurrent.com/2025/01/02/sheriff-very-strange-similarities-yield-no-connection-yet-in-lv-bombing-nola-rampage/)” between Livelsberger and Shamsud-Din Jabbar, who killed New Orleans revelers with a truck earlier on New Year’s Day; the prospect of AI’s new role as an instruction guide for DIY explosive devices; and, of course, the tragedy of a hero’s fall.

Livelsberger left behind statements calling for an armed, violent assault on the nation’s most important public institutions, to be carried out by people of whom he approved. He called for a “purge” of people of whom he disapproved from the nation’s institutions “by any means necessary.” And, according to his journaling, he envisioned it all as a triumphant ride on the “Trump, Musk, Kennedy…wave to the highest hegemony for all Americans!”

And we’ve reached the point where the vast majority of the media doesn’t regard that as a particularly important part of the story, if they mention it at all.

Maybe the media hasn’t taken Livelsberger’s political extremism seriously because it happened in a place the media (and the nation) has a habit of not taking very seriously. Bizarre thing happens in Las Vegas, must be a day that ends in a y, etc. In which case Livelsberger’s hope that Las Vegas would be a prime location to place a wake up call was a miscalculation.

Or with everyone from Mark Zuckerberg to members of Congress from both parties to all the billionaires to pockets of the media surrendering in advance (https://www.niemanlab.org/2024/12/the-media-surrenders-to-trump-2-0/) to Trump, maybe wake up calls are just passé anymore.

Steve Bannon calls for a military tribunal to try retired General Mark Milley for treason (https://www.mediamatters.org/steve-bannon/steve-bannon-calls-military-tribunal-try-retired-general-mark-milley-treason)

November 13, 2024, edition of Real America's Voice's War Room

STEVE BANNON (HOST): This is why this is an important moment and a seminal moment in the history of this republic, because President Trump seeing the forces arrayed against him, understanding that he had won 2020 but it was stolen from him and he kind of got kicked to the curb, and the whole established order in every aspect, including canceling his cards and bank lines and everything, every aspect they could surround the great lion, the jackals and the hyenas, to kill it.

…

That's why the investigations must go on. You have to. You have to recall Milley immediately to uniform and let him - and have a military tribunal try him for treason. Has to. Has to happen. If you don't have - if you don't do that, you're not going to be able to exert civilian control over the uniformed services.

CLETA MITCHELL (ELECTION INTEGRITY NETWORK): And so there have been a lot of different changes that have been made in legislation and in statutes around the country. And that's a good thing but it's not enough. We have to do more.

But the biggest thing I think is that the RNC, to their credit, have filed a lot of lawsuits. They haven't won as many as I would have liked but at least they've been aggressive before the election and the other thing is we have citizens, we have so many volunteers who are trained who now know the election code better than most lawyers in their state and they are involved and they're engaged and they're working as poll observers and many of them have become election board members and election officials and so we have a presence and we have eyes on the process that we really didn't have in 2020And of course it makes the left's collective head explode. They hate it. T. hey hate me, they hate the Election Integrity Network, and they hate everything that we're doing which tells me we're on the right track.

Fox anchor Bret Baier tried to explain away Trump's “enemy within” remark. Trump just proved him wrong — on Fox News.

Written by Matt Gertz (https://www.mediamatters.org/author/matt-gertz)

Published 10/16/24 mma

Former President Donald Trump said during a Fox News town hall which aired Wednesday that when he recently threatened to deploy the military against the “enemy from within,” he was talking about mainstream Democrats like former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and her family. Trump’s damning admission should be humiliating for people who tried to help Trump clean up his initial comments — including Fox chief political anchor Bret Baier.

Trump claimed (https://www.cnn.com/2024/10/13/politics/trump-military-enemy-from-within-election-day/index.html) that “the bigger problem is the enemy from within,” which he described as “radical left lunatics” during a Fox interview that aired Sunday. “I think it should be very easily handled by, if necessary, by National Guard, or if really necessary, by the military, because they can’t let that happen,” he told Maria Bartiromo. Later in the interview, Trump returned (https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/-enemy-trump-claims-democrats-are-dangerous-us-foreign-adversaries-rcna175198) to the subject of “the enemy from within,” citing as an example Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA).

Trump’s meandering and nonspecific commentary is often difficult to follow. But he constantly uses authoritarian rhetoric (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/02/21/how-trump-is-becoming-more-authoritarian/), frequently accuses (https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/01/us/politics/trump-liz-cheney-treason-jail.html) his political opponents of committing crimes including treason (https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/trump-suggests-democrats-are-committing-treason-heres-what-the-constitution-says), and was recently described (https://www.mediamatters.org/donald-trump/broadcast-news-shows-and-print-outlets-largely-ignored-gen-milley-calling-trump) by his former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff as “fascist to the core.”

As critics pointed out (https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trumps-enemy-threat-spurs-critics-alarm-authoritarian-shift/story?id=114816374) the danger inherent in someone like Trump threatening to use the military against a nebulous domestic group, some of his supporters tried to rewrite the remarks (https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/republicans-trump-military-against-citizens-election-1235134231/) to make them seem more palatable.

Baier took up their cause on Tuesday's Special Report. After saying Trump’s comments about “the enemy from within” were “raising eyebrows,” the Fox anchor aired a portion of the former president’s statement, criticism from MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, and Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s claim (https://www.thedailybeast.com/frustrated-jake-tapper-calls-out-gop-gov-glenn-youngkin-over-trump-denial) that his “belief” is that Trump was referring to undocumented immigrants who commit crimes.

“Gov. Youngkin trying there,” Baier said. “But I think JD Vance more on point where he said that if there is some big protest or something, that that is what the former president is talking about. He later talked about Adam Schiff, about being one of those enemies from within, or crazy left. And so a lot of people jumped on that. It is his words that cause some concern in a lot of corners.”

Baier later asked (https://www.mediamatters.org/media/4025012) Josh Holmes, a former Republican congressional staffer and co-host of the Ruthless podcast, about the comments. Holmes replied that Trump was “obviously” discussing the possibility of urban unrest after the election, adding, “I think that’s what we’re talking about very clearly here. They can try to make it into something else.”

But at the town hall, which Fox reportedly stocked (https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-town-hall-women-georgia-b2629936.html) with Trump’s supporters, Fox’s Harris Faulkner asked Trump to address criticism of the “enemy from within” comment. In his response, Trump cited “the Pelosis” as an example of who he was talking about, adding, “these people, they are so sick and they are so evil.”

HARRIS FAULKNER: Mr. President, Kamala Harris said you sounded unhinged and unchecked power is in our future. What do you say about that?

DONALD TRUMP: I thought it was a nice presentation. I wasn't unhinged. You know what they are? They're a party of sound bites. Somebody asked me can they be brought together? I never thought — I wasn't thinking like they could because they are very different. It is the enemy from within and they're very dangerous. They are Marxists and communists and fascists. And they say I use a guy like Adam Schiff. They made up the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax. It took two years to solve the problem. Absolutely nothing was done wrong, etc. They are dangerous for our country.

We have China, we have Russia, we have all these countries. If you have a smart president, they can all be handled. The more difficult are the Pelosis, these people, they are so sick and they are so evil. If they would spend their time trying to make America great again we would have — it would be so easy to make this country great. But what I heard about that, they were saying I was like threatening. I'm not threatening anybody. They are the ones doing the threatening.

In October 2022, a right-wing conspiracy theorist (https://www.mediamatters.org/tim-pool/paul-pelosi-attacker-was-fan-tim-pool-glenn-beck-others-right-wing-media) broke into the Pelosi home in San Francisco reportedly intending to hold Nancy Pelosi hostage. Finding the then-speaker absent, he assaulted and critically injured her husband Paul with a hammer. The assailant was ultimately found guilty (https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/david-depape-sentenced-after-conviction-assault-and-attempted-kidnapping-charges) of a slew of federal crimes and sentenced to 30 years in prison. Baier’s Fox colleagues responded by spinning up (https://www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/how-fox-news-supporting-rights-paul-pelosi-conspiracy-theory) more conspiracy theories (https://www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/paul-pelosi-attack-video-shows-rights-conspiracy-theory-machine-out-control) about Paul Pelosi’s assault, while Trump has repeatedly (https://www.politico.com/news/2023/09/29/trump-mocks-pelosi-family-as-he-rallies-conservative-support-in-california-00119243) cracked (https://www.msnbc.com/morning-joe/watch/trump-continues-to-joke-about-assault-of-paul-pelosi-197718085570) jokes (https://www.salon.com/2024/09/06/cracks-joke-about-on-nancy-pelosis-husband-in-speech-to-police/) about it on the campaign trail.

Baier regularly downplays (https://www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/bret-baier-downplays-donald-trumps-promise-rule-dictator) Trump’s authoritarian comments (https://www.mediamatters.org/bret-baier/fox-news-anchor-bret-baier-acts-hes-never-heard-trump-refusing-leave-office) and actions (https://www.mediamatters.org/bret-baier/fox-anchor-bret-baier-compares-bidens-vaccine-mandates-and-student-loan-relief-trumps) on his Special Report program, where he is interviewing (https://www.mediamatters.org/bret-baier/three-damning-facts-about-foxs-bret-baier) Vice President Kamala Harris for tonight’s broadcast.

These people are beyond evil. They're cancer, and they're going to have to be cut out. Now, you're gonna see people start getting real, like the judge in Florida just struck down Jack Smith, and I told you that's what the Supreme Court did. They gave it back to her to strike it down. They said clearly, a month ago, they said this is, this is, he wasn't appointed correctly, just like their Jan 6 committee on its face was illegal. Then they destroyed all the evidence. They destroyed my testimony. Because it didn't fit in with their BS. And so these are just a bunch of dirty, evil pedophile lawyers who inherited the apparatus of the American republic and all the brains and weapons and the rest of it. And now, they've squandered it.

House Speaker Mike Johnson accused Democrats of trying to “destroy the American dream” in a fundraising email sent to right-wing activists Thursday morning. Johnson, who told Christian nationalist lawmakers last year that God put him in power (https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/american-moses-mike-johnson-at-the-national-association-of-christian-lawmakers-gala/) as an American “Moses,” wrote, “The radical Left hates our freedom, they hate our Judeo-Christian values, and they hate our Constitution.”

Johnson has led congressional Republicans in supporting former President Donald Trump’s efforts to discredit his recent criminal prosecution and conviction. Johnson continued the attack in today’s email, writing, “They manipulated a coordinated political hitjob to escalate a cluster of bogus charges to 34 felony convictions – with the help of a Biden-minion judge and prosecutor!”

Johnson wrote that the 2024 election is not only the most important in our lifetimes, but “the most important election in our country’s history.” He asked for cash to “Expose the Democrats for their failures and attempts to destroy the American dream, and fundamentally change our great country.” He accused the left of “attempting to bring in a legion of illegal immigrants and turn them into voters by neglecting the border.”

Johnson’s email is headed by a “Team Trump Official” logo. It is raising money for his own campaign account and for a joint Trump-RNC fundraising committee. The default allocation for a $100 contribution is $95 to Johnson and $5 to the Trump National Committee JFC President.

Finally, MAGA pastor/self-proclaimed “prophet” Hank Kunneman used his Sunday sermon (https://twitter.com/RightWingWatch/status/1784962767260103051) to declare that “God is far right” while ranting that Democrats are “dark black evil.”

“I will not feed a demon,” Ruby Franke told her son. The former YouTube influencer starved, kicked and bound the 12-year-old, and twisted him into stress positions. When the boy’s restraints lacerated his flesh, Franke rubbed honey and cayenne pepper into the wounds and let them suppurate until the whole house stank.

Franke pled guilty to four counts of aggravated child abuse. This week prosecutors released the underlying evidence in her case, including a diary (https://cloud.washco.utah.gov/index.php/s/ENyWCA5fNHrD8id?dir=undefined&path=%2FDocuments&openfile=33580) in which she records the degradation of her children in meticulous detail and justifies it in the name of exorcism.

Franke believed that her children were possessed by demons that could only be cast out by horrific abuse and neglect. There are many similarities between Franke’s case and that of Lori Vallow (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/lori-vallow-daybell-guilty-idaho-doomsday-mom-unimaginable-crimes-48-hours/), a cult leader who orchestrated the murder of her two children, her lover’s wife, (and probably her ex-husband,) and justified the slaughter by claiming her victims were possessed.

There’s no indication that Franke or Vallow had a partisan political agenda, but demonization is becoming a partisan political problem in its own right.

As Donald Trump seeks a second term, more and more high-profile Republicans are literally demonizing their political opponents. The candidate kicked off his reelection campaign in apocalyptic terms (https://www.texastribune.org/2023/03/25/donald-trump-waco-rally-retribution-justice/) promising to be his voters retribution in the “final battle (https://www.newsweek.com/trump-unleashes-apocalyptic-final-battle-fundraising-campaign-1786515),” implicitly likening himself to a returned Christ in the final battle against the Antichrist.

Trump confidante Roger Stone claims to have seen a swirling demonic portal (https://sports.yahoo.com/trump-confidant-roger-stone-says-014923063.html) over Joe Biden’s White House. Trump strategist Steve Bannon has been railing about spiritual warfare (https://www.mediamatters.org/steve-bannon/steve-bannon-using-right-wing-religious-rhetoric-about-spiritual-warfare-against) and Democratic demons since at least 2021, according to an analysis by Media Matters.

Earlier this month, Republican senatorial hopeful and supreme Trump toady Kari Lake blamed demons for stealing the 2020 election. “We have to continue fighting. The devil is working. Evil is working. Those stolen \2020 and 2022] elections were meant to make us feel like we have been beat down and there's no hope,” Lake told a [podcaster (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/hold-the-line-podcast/id1572540011?i=1000648922049).

Trump lawyer Alina Habba (https://www.rawstory.com/alina-habba-2666972591/) tried to deflect criticism of her dismal courtroom performance by blaming Trump’s legal woes on demons.

You might think this is just the usual overheated sulfurous political rhetoric. After all, demons can be a potent metaphor for everything from the psychological problems of rock stars (https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/take-charge-bipolar-disorder/201708/rock-star-suicides) to the laws of thermodynamics (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laplace%27s_demon). It’s hard for secular folks (or even worldly Christians) to relate to those who explain mundane events in terms of demons, but just because we can’t relate doesn’t mean it’s not happening.

Last week, Republican operative Charlie Kirk was babbling about Haiti being demonically possessed. “Haiti is legitimately infested with demonic voodoo” that allows practitioners to do “quasi-levitation stuff,” Kirk proclaimed (https://www.mediamatters.org/charlie-kirk/charlie-kirk-haiti-legitimately-infested-demonic-voodoo-allows-practitioners-do-quasi). And furthermore, Kirk continued, he knows a guy who knows some guys who say Haitians turn into cats at night. Kirk also claims that witches (https://www.rawstory.com/charlie-kirk-witches/) made him sick in Albuquerque. When Fox News host Jesse Watters accused a Trump grand jury foreperson (https://www.thedailybeast.com/fox-host-jesse-watters-accuses-wiccan-grand-jury-forewoman-of-leading-witch-hunt-against-trump) of witchcraft, Kirk amplified his charges.

Since the 1980s, growing numbers of Americans have embraced the idea of “spiritual warfare” against demons, which they believe to play active roles in politics and everyday life.

The fastest growing and most influential contingent of demon-believers is found in independent charismatic Christianity, including the radical movement known as the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR). In NAR theology, demons command physical locations and worldly institutions (https://theconversation.com/demons-of-the-deep-state-how-evangelicals-and-conspiracy-theories-combine-in-trumps-america-144898) such as journalism, academia and the government.

Anything a believer doesn’t like can be framed as demonic. Biden getting more votes than Trump is a "stolen" election in Lake's mind because it was the result of demonic influence. Anything that doesn't go their way is demons. Car breaks down? Demons. Depressed? Demons. Kid gay? Demons.

Thousands of protesters were enticed to Washington on January 6 by NAR leaders who promised to lead them in spiritual warfare (https://icjs.org/events/spiritual-warriors-decoding-christian-nationalism-at-the-capitol-riot/) against the demons that supposedly possessed the Capitol. The shofars honking around DC were NAR battle calls. For some, spiritual warfare spilled over into literal combat. This can easily happen when followers are steeped in violent rhetoric and their opposition is portrayed not as misguided or even malicious, but as demonic

An estimated 10 million Americans (https://news.yahoo.com/radical-beliefs-in-spiritual-warfare-played-a-major-role-in-jan-6-an-expert-argues-100039606.html) identify as independent charismatic Christians. However, a preoccupation with demons is not unique to the NAR. A Catholic priest from Nebraska told a videographer on January 6 that he had exorcized a tattooed demon (https://seeingrednebraska.com/the-patriarchy/full-transcript-of-interview-with-nebraska-exorcist-priest-at-us-capitol/) named Baphomet from the Capitol. Trump’s circle of demon-pushers includes Baptists like Greg Locke (https://baptistnews.com/article/now-pastor-greg-locke-is-a-demon-slayer/) and Robert Jeffress (https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/464073-jeffress-suggests-democrats-worship-pagan-god-moloch-who/) and Roman Catholics like Mike Flynn (https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/may/01/far-right-pastors-embracing-trump-white-christian-nationalism). Franke and Vallow identify as Mormon.

In the nineteen eighties, millions of Americans became convinced that satanists had infiltrated key sectors of society, including the C-suites of Fortune 500 companies, the recording industry, and the nation’s daycare centers. We laugh about the Satanic Panic, but we're living through something much worse.

Over the weekend, Peters joined members of former President Donald Trump’s family and inner circle and a cavalcade of far-right conspiracy theorists (https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/trump-may-join-reawaken-america-conspiracy-theory-tour-before-2022-elections/) for a ReAwaken America (https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/conspiracy-theorist-clay-clark-brags-of-connecting-the-prophets-to-trumps-inner-circle/) event in Las Vegas, where he delivered a bloodthirsty rant that was alarming even by Peters’ already unhinged standards.

Speaking on the same stage as the likes of Donald Trump Jr (https://rumble.com/v3cydnu-donald-trump-jr.-trump-dominating-and-the-path-forward-to-save.html)., Lara Trump, Kimberly Guilfoyle (https://rumble.com/v3cycti-kimberly-guilfoyle-the-truth-will-set-us-free-reawaken-america-tour-las-veg.html), and Michael Flynn, Peters repeatedly called (https://rumble.com/v3cy5xe-stew-peters-the-unapologetic-truth-reawaken-america-tour-las-vegas.html) for his perceived political enemies to be executed.

Peters vowed to arrest former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Anthony Fauci and prosecute him for the COVID-19 pandemic, after which Peters said Fauci “will hang from a length of thick rope until he is dead.”

Hunter Biden, Peters then pledged, will be tried fortreason and “when he is convicted of those crimes, he will get the punishment that traitors like Julius and Ethel Rosenberg received before him: Death!”

Peters proceeded to declare that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is “atreasonous traitor, and in the world that we are going to build, traitors will hang.”

On top of that, Peters warned that any medical professional who provides treatment to transgender youth will be charged with “child mutilation.”

“Child mutilation will be a capital offense,” Peters proclaimed. “And those who commit it will receive the death penalty without exception.”

“We are going to see extreme accountability,” Peters asserted. “Maximum accountability. We are going to have permanent accountability, with extreme prejudice!”

Every one of Peters’ violent threats was met by wild cheers from the audience[vid]

despite Peters well-documented history of using extremely bigoted and increasingly dangerous rhetoric, he nevertheless regularly manages (https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/rep-paul-gosar-cozies-up-to-far-right-conspiracy-theorist-stew-peters/) to get Republican leaders (https://twitter.com/RightWingWatch/status/1416417752139632646), elected (https://twitter.com/RightWingWatch/status/1505960169511006208) officials (https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/rep-pete-sessions-agrees-that-the-democrat-party-embraces-racism-against-white-people/), and candidates (https://twitter.com/RightWingWatch/status/1499761862002495496) for office (https://twitter.com/RightWingWatch/status/1521516934516330496) to appear (https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/kari-lake-makes-the-round-of-radical-right-wing-programs/) on his program.

right-wing media figures prepare for “spiritual war” in 2024 by claiming their opponents are demonic entities

Figures have invoked “demonic portals” and the occult to dehumanize LGBTQ people, perceived political enemies, and others

WRITTEN BY PAYTON ARMSTRONG & NOAH DOWE

PUBLISHED 07/05/23

Right-wing media figures are ramping up apocalyptic political rhetoric that literally demonizes LGBTQ people, perceived political enemies, and progressive causes, with some absurdly suggesting that demons are using portals to enter Earth and wage “spiritual war” against humanity.

Rhetoric about “demonic” influence and an existential, “spiritual” war has become a hallmark of right-wing punditry and Republican politics ahead of the 2024 elections, as Christian nationalism grows in popularity among Republican voters.Language that demonizes and dehumanizes political opponents has been a staple of right-wing commentary for years, but these recent accusations are not simple rhetorical flourishes; a number of media figures have begun to warn their audiences about occult rituals from the left and supposed portals to hell from which demons would enter the Earth. Last year, Trump ally and provocateur Roger Stone even claimed that a “Satanic portal” had opened over the White House after President Joe Biden took office.

This sort of framing, which posits that political enemies are literal “demons” waging a “spiritual war,” stems largely from a right-wing Christian movement known as the New Apostolic Reformation. For years, the NAR movement has reportedly sought “to take dominion over politics, business and culture in preparation for the end times and the return of Jesus.” Rolling Stone described the core NAR belief in spiritual war in a profile of one of the movement’s leading figures, commentator and self-proclaimed prophet Lance Wallnau:

NAR followers like Wallnau believe that America is specially anointed by God to project Christianity across the globe. And the NAR movement’s followers view foes of their quest as satanic. This is not metaphorical. They hold that the physical world is enveloped by a supernatural dimension, featuring warring angels and demons, and are convinced that demons afflict their enemies on behalf of the devil. The movement holds that these spiritual battles are reflected in earthly politics. As the late NAR founder C. Peter Wagner explained in a striking NPR interview in 2011: “I believe there’s a lot of demonic control over Congress … that needs to be dispersed.”

Fiery rhetoric of a spiritual war coupled with demonization of opponents has created an atmosphere in which violence appears permissible and justifiable to followers. For instance, the violence at the Capitol on January 6 was largely undergirded and inspired by boisterous cries of spiritual warfare from prominent figures on the religious right — including Wallnau — who have conditioned their audiences to consider political violence a legitimate tactic.

Over the last two years, right-wing media figures have increasingly adopted the scorched-earth rhetoric of movements like the NAR, setting the stage for a potentially dangerous political atmosphere in 2024. Here are a number of examples:

Right-wing media figures have suggested that demons are entering Earth, with some claiming they are using actual “portals” to hell

On several occasions, prominent right-wing media figures have claimed that demons are using “portals” to attack conservative causes or even fearmongered that Satan created a “woke mind virus.”

Right-wing media gadfly Roger Stone — who observers have noted has increasingly adopted rhetoric around “spiritual war” — claimed on Eric Metaxas’ Salem radio show that “a demonic portal” had been visible above the White House since Biden’s inauguration. Stone suggested that through the “portal,”demons began to “populate the Biden administration,” arguing “you can’t tell whether they are men or women.”

Salem media host Charlie Kirk said that “we’re in the midst of the most consequential spiritual war” in millennia because “there is no other way to explain the campaign of arson and destruction against our country other than diabolical, spiritually dark influences that are fighting for dominion over this nation.” He also argued that “witchcraft and the occult is a real thing, and there are portals to darkness and you have to be vigilant about this.”Kirk also alleged that Satan had created “the woke mind virus” to destroy America and called on religious leaders to “excommunicate … the demons of the woke.”

Conspiracy theorist and Infowars host Alex Jones warned that the European Council for Nuclear Research had used the Large Hadron Collider for “satanic rituals” which he claimed “definitely has opened up a gate” to hell and let demons into the Earth “like paratroopers.” Jones has also claimed that an “alien offworld force” with demons as its agents is “working against us around the clock because they know we are about to go from our embryonic level to birthing into the next level.” What’s more, in his trial for defamation of the families of the Sandy Hook massacre, Jones attacked the judge and plaintiffs’ lawyers as “committed to occult ideology of the new world order” and implied they were “demonically possessed.”

Daily Wire host Michael Knowles said of reports of interactions with aliens: “Aliens are just demons for liberals who don't want to admit metaphysical reality."

Right-wing media figures have labeled LGBTQ people, gender-affirming care, and abortion “demonic”

Conservative media figures have also revved up their attacks on trans people, LGBTQ Pride month, and abortion by claiming they are inspired by “demons in our society.”

Knowles — who demanded this year that so-called “transgenderism” be “eradicated from public life entirely” — claimed that trans people are “demonic” and that demons are “always trans.”

On her prime-time Fox News show, Laura Ingraham referred to gender-affirming care as “a demonic campaign to destroy the natural biological order.”

Daily Wire host Candace Owens called trans people “demons in our society” and smeared “any actor, actress, individual that supports this” as “demonic.” Owens has also argued that surrogacy is “deeply demonic.”

On Fox, now-former host Tucker Carlson used the Covenant School shooting in Tennessee to falsely claim that “the trans movement is targeting Christians, including with violence,” and denounced the trans community as part of “a deranged and demonic ideology.”

On YouTube, BlazeTV’s Liz Wheeler said that “if you took the three most disgusting, demonic ideologies that you could possibly think of and put them all in one flag you would get the trans flag.”

Doomsday prophet and repeat Trinity Broadcast Network guest Jonathan Cahn recently declared that Biden had put the United States under “demonic possession” at the hands of an ancient goddess of “sexual immorality” by lighting up the White House in the colors of the rainbow for LGBTQ Pride.

Two days after a shooter killed five people in a Colorado Springs LGBTQ club,Infowars host Owen Shroyer ran footage of drag queens and questioned whether “these people are even human,” ranting: “Demon possession is real. Satanic agendas are real. I don’t know how else to describe any of this.”

BlazeTV host Steve Deace partnered with far-right Christian filmmakers Chuck Konzelman and Cary Solomon to produce a right-wing movie that argued humanity is engaged in a spiritual war against demonic forces such as abortion and LGBTQ equality. On his podcast, in an episode titled “Hot Take: Demonic or Democrats?” Deace said that people who advertise drag story hours are “literally inhabited by a demon” and are “a manifestation of a demonic presence.”

Salem Radio host Eric Metaxas and his guest John Zmirak proclaimed that Satan himself was behind the LGBTQ rights movement, with Zmirak decrying “blasphemous drag queen rituals, in your church, mocking Christ” and comparing the Pride flag to an inverted pentagram, claiming Satan “wants you to use the pronoun they.” Metaxas then warned his audience that if they did not boycott companies that celebrate Pride Month, they would be comparable to Germans who failed to stop the Holocaust, saying, “The death camps were the result of good people saying, ‘I don’t want to deal with this. Just let me live my life.’”

Christian nationalist pastor Jack Hibbs, whose sermons air on Fox Business Network, declared that transgender people are “satanic,” saying that in “the last days there’s going to be doctrines of demons and deceiving spirits. Wonder what that’s going to be like? You’re in it.” Per Right Wing Watch, Hibbs has also claimed that "demonism” has caused public support for trans rights.

Christian nationalist influencer and repeat Fox guest Sean Feucht has described abortion and the movement for trans rights as demonic, ascribing public support to “demons” and “the demonic spirit.” Feucht is closely associated with prominent NAR movement leaders and “apostles.”

Right-wing radio host Jesse Kelly said that “we have a society so full of demons that baby murder is now popular” and also referred to the LGBTQ community as “the LGTBQ demon mob.”

Lance Wallnau, a contributor for The Victory Channel’s Christian nationalist show FlashPoint, has repeatedly invoked demons while discussing LGBTQ people. In an April show, Wallnau said that transgender people represent “a fundamental deception” and that accepting them has made society “sympathetic with evil.” Wallnau said that demons target people to make them trans, saying, “I believe a demon comes along that enters into that confusion that affirms that they are the opposite gender.” Per Right Wing Watch, Wallnau also claimed that people become trans because "Satan has taken 'em over with crazy talk about them being in the wrong bodies.”

Right-wing media personalities have also warned that Democrats and other perceived enemies are “demonic” and “satanic”

Far-right Christian media figures and prominent right-wing commentators have told their audiences that the left is engaged with “satanic worship” and “demonic forces,” rationalizing ideological opposition as a product of the “demon-possessed.”

Fox prime-time host Jesse Watters claimed that viewers should be afraid of “demonic teachers” interested in “turning their classroom into a drag show.”

Carlson warned on Glenn Beck’s show that there are “spiritual forces surrounding” Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), calling him “a force of darkness.”

On a FlashPoint broadcast, contributor and pastor Hank Kunneman told viewers that “we don't wrestle against flesh and blood, but principalities, powers, spiritual wickedness in high places — you know, demonic entities.” Earlier in the episode, Wallnau said that tragedies in society such as mass shootings should be understood through a lens where “you don’t deal with current events, you deal with a demonic spin cycle.”

BlazeTV founder and longtime conspiracy theorist Glenn Beck proclaimed that the 2020 election was not contested against Democrats, but against “Satan himself,” which he claimed was prophesied to him in a dream. Beck has an extensive history of linking progressives to “the devil” and warning of “demonic” influence.

Disgraced Trump ally-turned-podcast-host Steve Bannon suggested that Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) is “satanic” because he “exudes … pure evil” and “hangs with Satanic Groomers.”

During his Christian nationalist ReAwaken America Tour, former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn has frequently asserted that there is a “spiritual war” in America. He has also called former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) a “demon.”

Right-wing podcast host Benny Johnson attacked the grand jury forewoman investigating Donald Trump’s 2020 election interference in Georgia, calling her “borderline demonic” and “demon-possessed.” He has also claimed that “you can see demonic forces at work" in Schiff's district, claiming that the congressman is “on the side of the demons.” Johnson has previously embraced the rhetoric of spiritual warfare, saying, “This rabbit hole goes down so far into the occult … This is a spiritual battle. This is a battle of possession, and there are stages of demonic possession, and we are in the oppression stage right now.”

Far-right pundit Stew Peters fearmongered about “SatanCon,” an event that is hosted by “a progressive church that doesn't worship the devil but instead uses the word to get attention,” claiming it was evidence of “full-blown satanic worship” in America. His guest, Sean Feucht, insisted that we are witnessing “the total unveiling of this demonic realm, this demonic spirit.” Feucht then warned that these alleged forces of Satan were “agitated and upset and trying everything they can do to intimidate Christians.”

On his BlazeTV podcast, Deace called the Democratic Party “a demonic construct, a satanically influenced entity, and a death cult.”

mississippi’s Republican Governor Tate Reeves, who has the highest firearm mortality rate in the entire country, this week launched his re-election campaign with a video depicting him as Clint Eastwood shooting people of color.

Although the video (below) was released Tuesday, few seemed to notice until a Talking Points Memo article was published Friday afternoon.

“Reeves’ face is superimposed on Eastwood’s in clips from the classic Dollars trilogy movies. He’s seen cosplaying the white anti-hero, the Man with No Name, shooting at Mexican bandits with a Colt revolver and puffing on a cigarillo,” TPM’s Emine Yücel writes.

In addition to the inherent racism and violence in the video, there is no policy discussed, and not even any bragging about Reeves’ record.

There may be a reason for that.

Governor Reeves almost from the start of the coronavirus pandemic – due to policy choices he made – has one of the absolute worst records on COVID in the country.

Mississippi ranks 34th in population, yet was 18th in total cases per capita. It gets worse from there: Mississippi ranks third in deaths per capita.

Just one year into the pandemic, in March of 2021, Tate declared, “The governor’s office is getting out of the business of telling people what they can and cannot do,” as he lifted mask mandates and COVID-19 restrictions.

Under Tate’s leadership, Mississippi has suffered a huge health crisis. In September of 2020, the Mississippi Clarion Ledger revealed a “new report ranks Mississippi’s overall health care system dead last. ‘It’s an embarrassment,’ said one health expert.”

“Even before the pandemic, Mississippi’s health care system and outcomes were deteriorating under several metrics, according to a new report by The Commonwealth Fund” the Clarion Ledger added. “The health research organization’s ‘Scorecard on State Health System Performance’ ranked Mississippi No. 51 — below every other state and Washington, D.C. — where it has stood for several years. The researchers relied on data from before COVID-19.”

One year later, Politico scored each state on their response to COVID. With a score of 34 out of 100, Mississippi tied for second-worst.

And on overall health, Mississippi is also doing poorly. Forbes in January reported on the “Top 5 Least Healthy States.” Mississippi came in at number two, the second-worst.

In other areas, like education, Governor Reeves’ record is also bad. Mississippi, according to World Population Review, ranks 43 out of 50.

Meanwhile, back to Governor Reeves and his cosplaying video.

On Tuesday, as TPM also reported, Governor Reeves told supporters, “this is a different governor’s campaign than we have ever seen before in our state because we are not up against a local-yokel Mississippi Democrat, we are up against a national liberal machine.”

“They are extreme. They are radical and vicious,” he said of Democrats and the “national liberalmachine.”

“They believe welfare is success. They believe that taxes are good and businesses are bad. They think boys can be girls, that babies have no life, and that our state and our nation are racist.”

Response to Gov. Reeves’ video has been highly critical.

Former Nettleton, Mississippi mayor Brandon Presley, a Democrat running to unseat Reeves, tweeted: “Mississippi has real problems and Tate Reeves releases this foolishness as his first video of campaign. I guess we will have to wait and see if any welfare dollars were diverted to his buddies for the production of this silliness.”

Presley was referring to what CBS News is calling “the largest corruption case in Mississippi state history.” which appears to involve Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre, who has not been criminally charged.

“Gov. Tate Reeves’ first 2023 re-election video features him as an AI cowboy killing a bunch of folks with a gun. Totally normal campaign launch in the state with the highest gun death rate,” noted Mississippi Free Press news editor Ashton Pittman.

“This is what Republican messaging has been reduced to, at least in Mississippi: ‘Watch me, a sitting governor, CGI cosplay as Clint Eastwood and shoot Mexicans,'” wroteHarvard’s Neiman Lab’s Joshua Benton.

Democratic consultant Brannon Miller appeared to agree with Benton.

“I know that Tate Reeves himself didn’t make this, but it’s such a perfect window into the psyche of everyone over in his shop,” Miller wrote. “There’s no message, no policy, no positive good. Just a man, role playing as a tougher man, who is himself role playing an actually tough man.”

The Lincoln Project’s Stuart Stevens, a top political strategist, announced, “The only conclusion to come to is that @tatereeves campaign hates him.”

reacting to a report that Donald Trump is likely to be indicted next week in a Manhattan courtroom by District Attorney Alvin Bragg, and the former president's claim on Truth Social early Saturday that he will be arrested on Tuesday (https://www.rawstory.com/trump-take-our-nation-back/), Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) flipped out on Twitter and called for the defunding of the Department of Justice.

On Truth Social, in a two-part, all-cap post littered with misspellings, the former president wrote, (https://www.rawstory.com/donald-trump-arrested/) in part: "NOW ILLEGAL LEAKS FROM A CORRUPT & HIGHLY POLITICAL MANHATTAN DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE, WHICH HAS ALLOWED NEW RECORDS TO BE SET IN VIOLENT CRIME & WHOSE LEADER IS FUNDED BY GEORGE SOROS, INDICATE THAT, WITH NO CRIME BEING ABLE TO BE PROVEN, & BASED ON AN OLD & FULLY DEBUNKED (BY NUMEROUS OTHER PROSECUTORS!) FAIRYTALE, THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!"

That led to the controversial Georgia Republican to demand "Enough of this!" and attack the DOJ.

"If the Manhattan DA indicts President Trump, he will ultimately win even bigger than he is already going to win. And those Republicans that stand by and cheer for his persecution or do nothing to stop it will be exposed to the people and will be remembered, scorned, and punished by the base. President Trump did nothing wrong and has always fought for the American people, and we all know it, which is why we love him.

And any Republican who thinks the Democrats will stop this madness once Trump is out of the way is fooling themselves," she wrote (https://twitter.com/mtgreenee/status/1637060574314917888). "Weaponized Government and Political Persecution are new chapters in their playbook and they will use those methods against anyone who stands in their way. And we are absolutely fed up with the two-tiered justice system or rather INJUSTICE system in America. The base has had enough of Republicans that won’t stand up for the people and against the Democrats war against Trump, his admin, his supporters, and traditional values."

She then continued (https://twitter.com/RepMTG/status/1637070423715192834), "We must bring in the Biden DOJ officials who have been coordinating with the Manhattan DA to testify. And subpoena all of it. We must end the weaponization of government power for politics."

"Biden’s DOJ is coordinating with the Democrat Manhattan DA to arrest Donald Trump, the top Republican Presidential candidate for 2024, and charge him with a fake outdated misdemeanor charge. It’s ALL FOR POLITICS! This is what they do in communists countries to destroy their political opponents! Republicans in Congress MUST subpoena these communists and END this! We have the power to do it and we also have the power to DEFUND their salaries and departments! Enough of this! The American people deserve a government that actually works for them NOT a bunch ofself centered communistswho bail out their donors, protect the elites, and weld their power to punish their political enemies!" she concluded. Conservative pundit Sean Hannity claimed without evidence on Thursday that President Joe Biden and his son Hunter have "hired" Special Weapons and Tactics units to hunt down and destroy their political detractors.

:{:{First, Hannity and his guest alleged that the Bidens conducted nefarious business with China. They agreed that there were secret recordings of the two men kanoodling with foreign nationals, and determined that the Bidens acted illegally based on what was left "unsaid" in the supposed clandestine phone calls. Next, Hannity stated in a fake Russian accent that Libya may have "real compromising materials" about Hunter. He then transitioned into the Biden-SWAT conspiracy theory.

When right-wing Christians, especially evangelicals, start talking about "demons" and "the devil" attacking Donald Trump and that they need to use "spiritual warfare" against Trump's "enemies," what do they mean?

Evangelicals have always talked about demonic forces in the world andspiritual warfare. In their minds, God and Satan are still battling with each other, and then one day at the great battle of Armageddon or something akin to it, Satan will be defeated and we'll move into a new heaven. For evangelicals, the world is always enchanted. There are always angels and forces of evil and devils and demons and so forth. That's how they see the world around them. What's fascinating about these discussions of spiritual warfare, though, is that they normally take place behind the closed doors of churches. Now evangelicals are bringing this type of talk and logic to American public life in defense of Donald Trump.

Evangelical leaders such as Franklin Graham and others have recently been saying, "There are forces out there that are trying to undermine this president." If someone who is not a Christian evangelical were to hear the word "forces," they would think that means the Democrats or the deep state. But any evangelical who hears someone like Franklin Graham say that knows exactly what those forces are. These are demonic forces.

After the impeachment, evangelicals upped their game. "Demonic" and "spiritual battle" and "the devil" did not come into the public discourse in the way they are at present until Donald Trump was impeached. When the impeachment inquiry started, you had all these people saying that this is the devil at work trying to undermine God's anointed. Devils are trying to undermine a nation and its president who is trying to bring that nation back to its godly roots.

If right-wing Christian leaders are saying that the Democrats are demonic forces, is that an encouragement to violence?

Perhaps I am naïve, but I guess I have enough faith in my fellow evangelicals to prevent this from moving towards violence. But to affirm what you're saying, I think you're right. The logical implications of this certainly could be, at this point, very harsh, un-Christian like attacks on people who do not support Trump.

What do right-wing evangelicals and other Christians want? What is the Christian right's dream for America?

There's a theological concept in the New Testament known as the "Kingdom of God." Many non-evangelicals and non-Christians become very concerned when they hear Trump cabinet member Betsy DeVos or someone else with power saying, "We want to bring about the Kingdom of God." Outsiders see that as a kind of dominionist, reconstructionist, theocratic kind of statement. But when evangelicals theologically talk about the Kingdom of God, they're normally talking about what the world would be like if Jesus was King and if you put Jesus on the throne of the so-called Kingdom of God. We're all citizens of this kingdom as believers. I think they've confused this idea of a Kingdom of God" with some form of American exceptionalism or the idea that America is a "City on a Hill" and that God has specially blessed us.

When they talk about the nation becoming more Christian, again, it's all filtered through this recent history of the last 40 years. So how do we create a Christian nation? Well, we fight against abortion. We fight for religious liberty for our views only. We try to privilege Christianity, our version of Christianity, above everything else. If you push many of these Christian right leaders, it is hard to find an answer as far as what they actually want this vision to look like in practice.

For example, they are against abortion. What does that look like in practice? Do you want to take every woman who had an abortion and put her in prison? Put abortion doctors in prison? What is the logical outcome of these kinds of policies? And they would immediately back off and say, "Oh, no, no, no. We don't want to create a theocratic state, or a state governed by the teachings of the Bible." But in some ways, they do.

Most evangelicals, because they've committed to this notion of reclaiming America as a "Christian nation," have no model for pluralism. They cannot grasp any idea of a pluralistic society in which there are people who differ from them and question what American evangelicals believe. Roger Stone is now spinning a bizarre claim about the existence of a so-called "demonic portal" (https://www.mediaite.com/tv/roger-stone-says-theres-a-demonic-portal-above-the-biden-white-house-that-the-media-refuses-to-cover/) that opened above the White House after President Joe Biden took office.

Stone even appears to believe the portal is visible to those who are searching for it. During a recent appearance on"The Eric Metaxas Radio Show," conservative radio host Eric Metaxas asked Stone about his thoughts on the existence of the "supernatural."

That's when Stone claimed to have seen the "portal" himself. “I think that… a portal, a demonic portal, opened above the White House around the time that the Bidens moved in,” Stone said.

He added, "This was brought to my attention by a Christian who lives in north Florida who sent me a bunch of documents and also a bunch of notations from the Bible about portals.”

Stone admitted that he was initially skeptical before saying:

So, I was skeptical about it but I looked at the photos. Also, there’s a live cam where you can actually see in real-time and there does appear to be something above the White House…At first you say, “Oh, maybe it’s a reflection. Maybe it’s an aerostat balloon. Maybe there’s a logical [explanation.]”

Out of concern, Stone also claims to have called a friend in law enforcement who works for the police department in Arlington, Va. According to Stone, his friend claims he found something.

“He called me back about two-and-a-half hours later and said, ‘You’re not going to believe this, but there’s definitely something there. Other people were there photographing it,'” Stone claims he was told.

Per Mediaite, Stone said, "if one zooms in on whatever is floating above the Biden White House, it can be seen 'swirling like a cauldron.'”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is overtly courting Christian nationalist voters, and Donald Trump lashed out at his most likely GOP challenger.

The Florida governor released a new video presenting him as a savior anointed by God to save the country, which the former president perceived as a direct threat to his grip over right-wing evangelical voters -- and historian Sarah Posner told the Washington Post (https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/11/07/donald-trump-ron-desantis-feud-christian-nationalism/) that Trump was right to be concerned.

"Trump knows that his base believes God anointed him to lead America at a critical juncture, and that many of them believe him to be a messianic figure who alone can rescue America from what they call demonic forces (liberalism, civil rights, 'deep state,' and more)," Posner told the Post columnist Greg Sargent. "None of Trump’s potential rivals have so blatantly tried to claim that divine blessing."

"It’s a very dangerous sign that DeSantis is reading the base — which has been bombarded with ever more radical claims of anointings, prophecy and spiritual warfare against the left — as receptive to savior alternatives to Trump," she added.

DeSantis was explicitly sending a message to voters who believe America was founded as a Christian nation, using their language, and signaling that he shares their vision of taking the country back from the forces of evil, Posner said.

"The video is a prime example," said Posner, a historical scholar of the religious right. "DeSantis has also used (https://www.tampabay.com/news/florida-politics/2022/09/12/what-message-is-desantis-sending-with-religious-full-armor-of-god-rhetoric/) a revealing misquote from the Bible, calling on supporters to 'put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the left’s schemes.'"

"The 'armor of God” quote actually reads, 'take your stand against the devil’sschemes,'" Posner added. "He substitutes 'the left' for 'the devil,' demonstrating to his base that he, like them, will treat politics as a battleground for spiritual warfare to vanquish the left."

Joe Biden delivered a speech (https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/joe-biden/biden-give-prime-time-speech-battle-soul-nation-stepped-attacks-republ-rcna45766) last week from Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in which he warned that former President Donald Trump and his MAGA supporters “represent extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.”

Nick Fuentes, the racist (https://twitter.com/RightWingWatch/status/1550508569438601219), misogynistic (https://twitter.com/RightWingWatch/status/1532431796301971456), antisemitic (https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/nick-fuentes-says-scotus-ruling-overturning-roe-shows-why-people-that-dont-serve-jesus-cannot-hold-public-office/), America-hating (https://twitter.com/RightWingWatch/status/1504167055557201925), Christian fascist (https://twitter.com/RightWingWatch/status/1542176685696733185) leader of the white nationalist America First movement, is precisely (https://twitter.com/RightWingWatch/status/1567164528474918915) the sort of MAGA activist that Biden was warning about. So naturally, Fuentes reacted to Biden’s speech Thursday night (https://cozy.tv/nick/replays/2022-09-02_1) by unleashing an extended rant in which declared that “the United States of America is controlled by Satan” and has been taken over by “the Jews.”

“\Biden] is saying ‘Look, I’m the big gay American empire, :{and I’m gonna kill all the enemies of liberalism,” Fuentes }[said (https://youtu.be/8vjgM8DsUu4):{. “That’s what he’s saying. Biden is there saying, ‘This is global homoand I’m the puppet face of it. I’m the puppet face of world Jewry and global homo and we’re gonna crush all these fascists.'”}:

“The whole thing is just a lie,” Fuentes continued. “The whole thing is a sham. Biden is a puppet. The elections are fake. The social media companies are rigged. The elections are rigged. The news couldn’t be more Jewed-up; Jewed-up, moneyed-up, corporate, under the thumb of the Illuminati, whatever. It’s all real man.”

“The devil is in charge of the world,” Fuentes griped. “Satan is in charge of America. If you don’t realize that, you’re not paying attention. And that’s not even an exaggeration. Satan runs America. I’m a patriot, but the United States of America is controlled by Satan right now. The United States is the great Satan in the world. The United States is controlled by Satan. The regime that runs America is controlled by Satan. And the regime that controls America is the empire that casts a shadow over the world. Satan runs the Western world. When you talk about the West, when you talk about democracy, you’re talking about the devil.”

“If you don’t see the hand of the demonic and all of this, you’re not paying attention,” he said. “It’s the porn empire. It’s thegay porno, abortion, feminist, diabolic empire. That’s what America stands for and it’s wrong.”

“Wake up and smell the coffee, this is an evil country,” Fuentes went on. “Until this country stands for God and the godly, this is an evil country. So, that’s just the way it is. And look at who runs it:  a lot of Jews. The Jews hate me. The Jews hate me. And do you know else the Jews hate? Jesus Christ. I hate to say it. Nobody wants to say that part. People want to talk about the [Chinese communists] and everything else. I’m sick of it. You know what? It’s Jews.”

“Fuck democracy,” Fuentes proclaimed. “I stand with Jesus Christ. You can have Philadelphia, and you can have democracy. Democracy is the soul of our nation? You can have it. Christ is the soul of this nation. You can have the United States. Christ is the soul of America. We’re going to have a new country; it’s not going to be called the United States, it’s going to be called America [and] it’s going to be a Christian nation.”...[vid]

SHAPIRO (HOST): It is all the dictators you have ever seen in film or on screen, basically rolled into one and then wrapped into an image. What is his team doing? What is his team doing? Well, I think the answer is they're a very online team, the people who work for him, they spend all day on Twitter. And so over the past few weeks there's been this idea thatDark Brandon is rising, Dark Brandon of course is that meme that originally started in China.

...

It's the worst piece of presidential image making ever, truly ever. I mean imagine the sort of thought that had to go into this. And they're sitting around in a room thinking like, "What can we do to make the president really look cool?Well, what if we take a historic American site, you know, the site that is really know for liberty and for democracy and legality and what if we light it blood red, blood red, and we put the president in front of the blood red site, so it will be red and black, like the fascist color pattern.Let's do that. And then what if we actually front light him so he looks angry and demonicagainst that backdrop. And then what if we put a couple of Marines behind him to look like military force is what is backing him?"

This is a taxpayer sponsored event, by the way. You paid for this. So Joe Biden gave a speech and the speech was designed to attack all of his political opponents and treat them as enemies of the state. That's what this speech was designed to do.

I think in a very cynical way -- because Joe Biden basically gave you two messages, one, everyone who opposes me is an enemy of the state, and two, political violence is wrong, the basic idea here is the raise the temperature, I think it's more likely to result in acts of violence that Joe Biden is then going to use as a case to run in 2022 and 2024. I mean, this is extraordinarily dark stuff.

...

Really dark, really creepy, really fascistic, and man did he -- I mean there's a reason that satanic, demonic, and pure evil were all trending on Twitter last night.

Former President Donald Trump spoke for nearly two hours in his closing address at the CPAC summit in Dallas.

In Trump's view, America has been destroyed in the 18 months since he left office, with out-of-control crime, inflation, and oddly enough unemployment, which Trump estimates to be three times the official number.

Trump took the stage to the song "God Bless the USA" and began by thanking the "proud patriots" in attendance.

Trump said he was proud to be joined by Rep. Ronnie Jackson (R-TX), who was his White House surgeon.

"He was an admiral, a doctor, and now he's a congressman," Trump noted, saying he asked him which was the best.

"And he sort of indicated doctor, because he loved to look at my body. It was so strong and powerful," Trump said.

Trump then introduced Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Lauren Boebert (R-CO), and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

"This is no time for complacency," Trump warned. "We have to seize this opportunity to deal with the radical left socialist lunatic fascists. We have to hit them very, very hard. It has to be a crippling defeat."

He went on to complain about Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) for supporting the Inflation Reduction Act, which passed a procedural vote after Vice President Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote while Trump was speaking, resulting in harsh words for GOP Leader Mitch McConnell (https://www.rawstory.com/inflation-reduction-act-donald-trump/) (R-KY).

"But McConnell is the most unpopular politician in the country, even more so thancrazy Nancy Pelosi, and something has to be done," Trump urged.

Trump said Biden "surrendered our strength and our everything [in Afghanistan], they surrendered our dignity."

Michael Hardy, senior editor at the Texas Monthly, was one of the local journalists covering the speech. He said (https://twitter.com/mkerrhardy/status/1556057882180845568) that line had "echoes of the Nazi 'stab in the back theory' of losing WW1."

Trump then described crime in "Democrat-run (sic) cities" in very dark terms.

"The streets of our Democrat-run cities are drenched in the blood of innocent victims," Trump claimed. "Bullets are killing little beautiful little children who never had a chance. Car jackers lay in wait like predators."

Hardy described (https://twitter.com/mkerrhardy/status/1556060476324421632) that as "some literal blood-and-soil rhetoric."

And Trump went on saying "we need to courage to say what needs to be said and do what needs to be done," which Hardy said (https://twitter.com/mkerrhardy/status/1556060730344067075) "is a rallying cry for street violence and worse."

Trump went on to call for a military takeover of San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and Portland.

"Trump's rhetoric is significantly more extreme than even a few years ago," Hardy said (https://twitter.com/mkerrhardy/status/1556064661296058368). "This might be most frightening speech I've ever heard. Full-on, unapologetic fascism. Trump has either been reading Mein Kampf or having someone read it to him."

Trump repeated his lies about election fraud and teased a 2024 presidential comeback.

Former RNC official Tim Millersaid (https://twitter.com/Timodc/status/1556061573893877762), "I know everyone in the DC GOP is just hoping Trump will die but it’s impossible to watch this CPAC speech and not come to the conclusion that he’s going to run and be very hard to beat in a primary. Sorry to be the bearer of bad weekend news."

After his speech, Trump danced on stage to the song "Hold On I'm Coming" by Sam and Dave.

"Don't you ever feel sad; lean on me when times are bad," Sam and Dave sang. "Then the day comes and you're down; in a river of trouble and about to drown. Just hold on, I'm coming. Hold on, I'm coming."

You can watch his speech here. (https://www.rawstory.com/donald-trump-fascism/)

A parallel process of line-shifting has been unfolding among conservative intellectuals, most of whom responded to the launch of Trump's presidential campaign six years ago with a mixture of disgust and incredulity. The dismissal didn't last. While many shifted to the center and refused to endorse Trump's hostile takeover of the party, plenty of others went along with it,adjusting their prior positions to bring them into alignment with the nominee on policy and attitude. No commentator did so with more enthusiasm or popular impact than Michael Anton.

A former director of communications for New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani (where he was briefly my boss) and former speechwriter for Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Anton penned the most notorious and rhetorically scalding case for supporting Trump. Published in early September 2016 in the Claremont Review of Books online, "The Flight 93 Election" portrayed Trump as a final, last-ditch opportunity for conservatives to wrest control of the country back from those (like Hillary Clinton) who aimed at nothing less than its thoroughgoing destruction.Rush Limbaugh paid tribute to the power of the argument (and amplified it for a vastly larger audience) by reading the essay aloud, paragraph by paragraph, on his radio show. In doing so, Anton, with Limbaugh's help, gave legions of Trump-skeptical conservatives permission to vote, even to express outright enthusiasm, for the untested right-wing populist....[am Caesar]

on January 6, 2021, far-right groups like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers rioted at the U.S. Capitol to prevent Joe Biden from becoming president. Their members didn’t act alone, often relying on funders and others who supported their violent efforts.

This compelled The Hill to question how many U.S. residents actually support political violence (https://thehill.com/opinion/3531987-mellman-how-many-endorse-political-violence/). According to academics from institutions like John Hopkins, Stanford, Cornell, and the Universities of California and Chicago, the number could range anywhere from 3 to 20 percent of the U.S. adult population, signifying between 7 to 51 million people.

For comparison, the population of New York City is around 8.6 million and the population of California is 39.6 million. So, put another way, the U.S. has enough supporters of political violence to nearly fill New York City or to just under two Californias.

This may seem like a theoretical exercise. After all, if that many people actually supported political violence, why aren’t we seeing revolt in the streets or daily attacks on political leaders?

But, as the Army’s Counterinsurgency Manual points out, supporters of political violence offer all sorts of assistance which can aid the growth of violent insurgency movements.

“Active popular support often has the greatest impact on the insurgency’s long-term effectiveness,” the manual says. “Popular support results in safe havens, freedom of movement, logistic support, financial support, intelligence, and new personnel.… As the insurgent group gains in support, its capabilities grow.”

However, recent studies suggest that voters often misbelieve that members of their opposing political viewpoint approve of violence more than they do. This makes people more inclined to support using violence against them. Conversely, if someone is shown data to prove that their opponents don’t favor using political violence, their own support of political violence lowers.

Also, studies suggest that one’s own support of political violence also decreases the more serious the offense. So while some voters might support property damage or theft against an opposing political party, their appetite for violence decreases with more serious offenses, like death threats or actual physical assault.

On Tuesday, June 14, Salcedo spoke with Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) where he noted that the top-ranking Democratic lawmaker had been responsible for holding up the passing of legislation to enhance security measures for justices and members of their families.

“A lot of folks are starting to ask some questions out there, congressman,” Salcedo began. “They’re openly wondering why Nancy Pelosi sat on a bill that was passed by the Senate to protect Supreme Court justices. Now she’s moving after an assassination attempt on Justice Kavanaugh. Are Americans right to question if Pelosi was actually hoping for, or encouraging violence that could lead to Joe Biden appointing a new Supreme Court justice?”

Salcedo's remarks come just days after an armed man was apprehended not far from Kavanaugh's Maryland home. At the time, the man reportedly admitted that he wanted to kill the justice.

on Tuesday, House lawmakers also voted in favor of the bill. However, Davis appeared to pivot from the question.

“It’s certainly questions [sic] that Nancy Pelosi and others need to answer as to why she thought somehow Justice Kavanaugh – after having an assassin in his backyard – is somehow safe over the weekend. We could’ve gotten to this bill last week, but she chose to hold it up and she needs to answer as to why.”

Despite Salcedo's baseless theory, the bill for enhanced security passed with a staggering vote of 396-27. Biden is expected to sign the bill into law sometime next week. The opposing votes all came from Democratic lawmakers.

fox News propagandistJesse Watters (https://www.thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/?s=Jesse+Watters) on Wednesday alleged President Joe Biden and other top Democrats may be behind (https://www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/foxs-jesse-watters-suggests-joe-biden-ordered-assassination-attempt-brett-kavanaugh) the man who was arrested earlier that day who reportedly admitted he wanted to kill Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

“This could be a little criminal conspiracy,” Watters alleges, asking, “did the orders come all the way from the top?” JUST ASKING

For more than seven minutes Watters cobbled together various benign incidents from over the past two years in a clearly fictious narrative that draws the President, the Speaker of the House, the Senate Majority Leader, the White House Press Secretary, and a top Democratic Senator into what he baselessly suggests could be a conspiracy to kill a U.S. Supreme Court Justice.

Watters – who was highly criticized for using “violent rhetoric (https://www.npr.org/2021/12/22/1066956407/anthony-fauci-jesse-watters-fox-news-kill-shot-ambush-interviews)” by calling for a “kill shot” in interviews with Dr. Anthony Fauci (https://www.cnn.com/2021/12/21/media/fauci-fox-jesse-watters/index.html) – told Fox News viewers the man who he suggests is some high-powered hit man hired by the President, “got cold feet when he saw U.S. Marshals with arms guarding Kavanaugh’s house and called the cops on himself, telling them everything.”

“He says he was furious overRoe v. Wade possibly being overturned — remember the leak? — and was looking for purpose in his life,” Watters continues, as Media Matters reported. “So he found that purpose by going out and trying to kill a Supreme Court justice. Do you think that idea just popped into his head? Or did the orders come all the way from the top?”

Watters then tries to make his case, which amounts to “by Democrats’ own standards” there must be an investigation into this event because the left has accused Donald Trump of inciting the insurrection, Watters claims, merely by giving a speech at the January 6 rally.

By the end of his seven-minute-plus rant, Watters concludes:

“This is just the beginning, this summer is going to be ugly. That’s why we have to get to the bottom of this. This could be a little criminal conspiracy that needs to be investigated – again by the left’s own standards. We might have toappoint a commission. We might have to hold hearings,” he says, as if he is a member of Congress or DOJ official.

“We have a criminal leak,” Watters falsely claims, referring to the leak of the Supreme Court draft, which legal experts make clear was not criminal.

“We have a group that’s protesting outside [Kavanaugh’s] house. You have an attorney general that’s not doing anything about this,” he claimed, after earlier complaining that the protestors outside Supreme Court Justices’ homes should be arrested.

“You have a senator who’s agitating,” Watters claims, earlier referring to a March 2020 statement Senator Chuck Schumer made.

“You have a White House, who’s giving this license. Maybe time to put some people in leg shackles like they did to Navarro. These people incited violence possibly, we need to hold them accountable if they did. Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Liz Warren, anybody who has their hands on this should face consequences again, by the left’s own standards. Don’t call me crazy. They set the rules. We’re just following.”

'Twisted' and 'warped' MAGA Republicans fear Justin Trudeau more than Vladimir Putin: conservative

Alex Henderson February 22, 2022

At a time when Russian President Vladimir Putin appears likely to invade Ukraine, many right-wing media outlets — from Fox News to the Daily Wire to Breitbart News — are vigorously defending Putin and Hungarian strongman Viktor Orbán while arguing that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is the real authoritarian. Trudeau’s unforgivable sin, according to the MAGA far right, is enforcing vaccine and testing requirements for people entering Canada from the United States.

Conservative Daily Beast opinion writer and Never Trumper Matt Lewis, in a February 22 column, compares the MAGA movement’s views on Trudeau versus Putin — arguing that the American right has truly gone off the deep end when it considers Trudeau the enemy but defends Putin.

“If you want to understand someone’s values or worldview,” Lewis writes, “take a look at who and what provokes outrage and who and what evokes sympathy. The cognitive dissonance inherent in much of the American right can make such an examination problematic. That’s because some of the most prominent voices on the right today view Vladimir Putin as a misunderstood victim. Meanwhile, they cast Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as an authoritarian strongman.”

Lewis goes on to offer specific examples, noting that theDaily Wire’s Canace Owens tweeted, “STOP talking about Russia. Send American troops to Canada to deal with the tyrannical reign of Justin Trudeau Castro.”

The Never Trumper adds, “Or consider Fox News host Tucker Carlson, my friend — though we disagree profoundly on politics — and former boss. Carlson isn’t outraged over what is happening to Ukraine, but found time last week to bash ‘strongman’ Trudeau as ‘the dictator of Canada,’ while saying that ‘Canada canceled democracy.’ There’s also Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who says Trudeau has gone ‘full dictator.’ And J.D. Vance, celebrated author and Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in Ohio, who recently declared that he ‘doesn’t really care what happens to Ukraine.’”

Lewis injects some humor into his column, noting that Marty McFly — the time-traveling Reagan-era teenager Michael J. Fox portrayed in the 1985 fantasy film “Back to the Future” — would be shocked to see so many Republicans fawning over a former KGB agent. Indeed, back in the days of Madonna, Run-D.M.C. and Duran Duran, Reagan Republicans railed against the Kremlin nonstop; now, MAGA Republicans consider Putin and his ally Orbán people to be admired.

“If the 1985 version of Marty McFly transported to 2022,” Lewis writes, “it would be impossible to explain to him why so many conservative Republicans are willing to look the other way on Russia invading a sovereign nation, while they simultaneously blast Canada for imposing consequences on protesters blocking traffic…. To be clear, Putin is a former KGB agent and an actual authoritarian. He literally kills and imprisons his critics. And don’t forget the little matter of 100,000 of his troops massed on the Ukrainian border.”

Lewis adds, “Meanwhile, Justin Trudeau is the elected leader of a free nation. He took action to restore law and order [and GNP!]after three weeks of truckers blocking traffic and generally disturbing the peace.”

The conservative Lewis has spent plenty of time bashing the left, but he has been a blistering critic of former President Donald Trump and the MAGA movement. And he wraps up his February 22 column by stressing that MAGA Republicans are as “warped” now as they were when Trump was still in the White House.

“If you find someone willing to defend Vladimir Putin for threatening to invade and kill his neighbors, while simultaneously calling Justin Trudeau a ‘dictator’ for shutting down a lawless protest after three weeks, you have found someone who either is intellectually dishonest or has a warped sense of reality,” Lewis warns. “If you thought the gaslighting would end with Trump, you were wrong. The American right is getting in the habit of calling evil good and good evil. It’s a truly twisted and perverse perception of a dangerous world, and the scary thing is, it’s catching on.”

ECHO/ESCALATOR // SOCMED ALGO HYPE --> POLARIZATION

raw story 2 22 https://www.alternet.org/2022/02/trump-cult/

The statement by theRepublican National Committee arguing that the Jan. 6 insurrection was " legitimate political discourse (https://www.rawstory.com/republicans-political-discorse-fail/)" has sparked a renewed conversation on whether Donald Trump's MAGA movement is a cult (https://www.rawstory.com/trump-cult-2653835370/).

MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell began his examination of the issue with quotes from two Democratic Party leaders.

"You know, the 'C' in RNC doesn't stand for 'committee,' it stands for 'cult.' It's not the Republican National Committee, it's theRepublican National Cult," Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said.

"They seem to have reached rock-bottom with their statement that happened on January 6th was normal political discourse," Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said. "I say to Republicans all the time, take back your party from this cult."

Those quotes raised questions for O'Donnell, who wondered, "Is it a cult or is it stupidity? And what's the difference?"

For analysis, O'Donnell interviewed Dr. Lance Dodes (https://www.rawstory.com/2020/02/peoples-lives-will-be-lost-psychiatrist-warns-sociopath-trump-is-getting-worse-and-failing-in-coronavirus-response/), a retired clinical professor of psychiatry at Harvard.

Dodes said, "I think the word cult is probably correct.

"What a cult is — especially a charismatic cult, which is the kind we're talking about here where you have the all-powerful leader, Trump, who is seen as a god-like figure — thosecults are self-contained, intentionally,"he explained. "If you are in one, you are required to believe the belief system of the group. And a part of that, which is important to understand, is that you are also required to deny or ignore or attack those people who challenge the belief system, which is exactly what we see from many of these Trump followers, who simply act as they cannot hear and they attack those people who challenge it, which is what happened to [Liz] Cheney." [MARXIST CRT]

"The advantage of being ins such a group is that you have anecho chamber of people who are admiring you and affirming you. It is a self-affirming system, everyone agrees on the same things and they all follow and worship the leader," he continued. "On the other hand, to stand up against that, therefore, means that you aren't an outcast, you are a pariah." [BUT AMPLIFY INCREASE DOSE TRUMPIER THAN THOU?]

O'Donnell wondered about the role intelligence plays in susceptibility to joining a cult.

"Doctor, it seems that one defense against cultism, one personal defense that we might all possess — many of us might possess — is intelligence, you're simply too smart to fall for the stupidity of what's the cult is selling," O'Donnell said. "What is the difference between adherence to a cult and stupidity?"

"It helps to be stupid, but I think that they're different because there are intelligent people who are members of cult, you know? As much as some of these people who are republicans that don't seem to care about either democracy or morality are odious to us, they may be intelligent. Unfortunately, intelligence doesn't help you when you've got these enormous internal and external pressures to stay in line with the leader.

"I think it has, certainly, a moral quality. People who have high moral qualities and values do stand up, we sometimes consider them heroic. They finally say this is not right, as Liz Cheney did. I think we have to question the morality of the Trump followers because their morality is not strong enough to overcome their self-interest of staying in the cult," Dodes concluded.

Arizona Republican Senate hopeful slammed as 'disgusting' for violent campaign ad

[Jim Lamon speaking at a MAGA rally in Scottsdale, Arizona in July 2021,]

Alex Henderson February 11, 2022

Jim Lamon, one of the MAGA Republicans competing in Arizona’s 2022 GOP U.S. Senate primary, is drawing criticism for a new campaign ad that depicts him shooting at President Joe Biden, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and incumbent Sen. Mark Kelly — who he is hoping to compete with in the general election, and whose wife, Gabby Giffords, survived an attempted murder in 2011.

The ad, which Lamon posted on Twitter on February 10, is made to look like one of Italian director Sergio Leone’s spaghetti westerns of the 1960s. Lamon plays a Clint Eastwood-like character, and the music recalls Ennio Morricone’s work in Leone movies like “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,” “Once Upon a Time in the West” and “A Fistful of Dollars.” Actors portraying Biden, Pelosi and Kelly, all clad in western attire, are described in the ad as “The D.C. Gang”— and Lamon shoots the guns out of their hands.

Lamon, also wearing western attire, declares, “The good people of Arizona have had enough of you. It’s time for a showdown.”

The Guardian’s Gloria Oladipo reports, “Criticism towards the ad has been swift, with many people pointing out other recent instances of violent imagery used by members of the Republican Party. Last November, Paul Gosar, Republican representative for Arizona, was officially censured by the House after sharing an animated video depicting him killing the Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and attacking Biden.”

Shannon Watts, founder of the group Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, slammed the ad as “disgusting”:...

aha: almost truism but true that 1st step is to make enemy subhuman thus ok to kill; in fact it is your duty to kill enemy that threatens the sacred 14 words white children or OUR Way Of Life = capitalism freedumb

pretty good speech:

Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona, a far-right MAGA Republican and conspiracy theorist who has never been shy about making inflammatory remarks (https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/17/politics/controversy-paul-gosar-congress/index.html), has been drawing vehement criticism from Democrats (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/republicans-gosar-trump-ocasio-cortez/2021/11/08/ead37b36-40ca-11ec-9ea7-3eb2406a2e24_story.html) for posting a cartoon that depicts him murdering Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York City and inflicting harm on President Joe Biden. He has previously been criticized for appearing at a conference organized by white supremacists (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/gosar-racism-remarks/2021/02/27/64f8ffa4-7901-11eb-948d-19472e683521_story.html).

Many House Republicans, however, have been silent about the controversies. And Ocasio-Cortez, during a speech on the House floor this week, called them out them out for it.

The congresswoman, during her speech, made it clear that amuch more vehement response from House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and other GOP leaders is needed.

AOC: "It's a sad day in which a member who leads a political party in the United States of America cannot bring themselves to say that issuing a depiction of murdering a member of Congress is wrong, and instead decides to venture off into a tangent about gas prices and inflation"pic.twitter.com/fi13Jb396s

AOC: "Does anyone in this chamber find this behavior acceptable? Would you allow depictions of violence against women, against colleagues? Would you allow that in your home? ... And if it\u2019s not acceptable there, why should it be accepted here?!"pic.twitter.com/Bas9dS5dfo

— Justin Baragona (@Justin Baragona)1637178312

Ocasio-Cortez told fellow House members, "What I believe is unprecedented is for a member of House leadership of either party to be unable to condemn incitement of violence against a member of this body. It is sad, it is a sad day in which a member who leads a political party in the United States of America cannot bring themselves to say that issuing a depiction of murdering a member of Congress is wrong…. What is so hard, what is so hard about saying that this is wrong?"

The Democratic congresswoman added, "This is not about me. This is not about Rep. Gosar. But this is about what we are willing to accept."

Gosar has maintained that the anti-AOC cartoon was meant to be a joke, but Ocasio-Cortez stressed that depictions of murder should never be taken lightly.

"This nihilism runs deep," Ocasio-Cortez explained. "It conveys and betrays a certain contempt for the meaning and importance of our work here — that what we do, so long as we claim it is a joke, doesn't matter."

Right-wing website made up viral fake claim Republicans like Marco Rubio are now pushing: report

[Marco Rubio embarrasses himself again by doubling down on false attack of defense secretary]

David Badash and The New Civil Rights Movement February 10, 2022

This week Republican lawmakers and voters have had a great time pushing a false claim that the Biden administration is spending tens of millions of dollars to pay for "free crack pipes" for drug abusers. The claim came from a report by the right-wing website Washington Free Beacon, including a quote falsely attributed to an HHS spokesperson, according to The Daily Beast.

It's no surprise The Daily Beast is calling "a lie" made its way to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives and a U.S. Senator's Twitter account.

"The Washington Free Beacon seemed to take a big leap to assert that free crack pipes would be part of a harm reduction package," The Daily Beast's Roger Sollenberg reports, calling it "a lie rocketed around conservative media."

The report, published Monday and titled “Biden Admin To Fund Crack Pipe Distribution To Advance ‘Racial Equity,’” cited an HHS spokesperson as confirming that a sweeping harm reduction package “will provide pipes” to smoke, quote, “any illicit substance.”

The Free Beacon's article reads: “A spokesman for the agency told the Washington Free Beacon that these kits will provide pipes for users to smoke crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and ‘any illicit substance.’”

The Daily Beast reviewed the email chain between the Washington Free Beacon and HHS. It's unclear how the Free Beacon made the "any illicit substance" claim, given the HHS email specifically states no federal laws would be broken.

In fact, The Daily Beast reports the HHS spokesperson says the Free Beacon “omitted the information shared with him about the grantees needing to comply with federal, state, and local laws—the very language that would prohibit crack pipes.”

The damage has already been done. The "free crack pipes" claim is now one more myth in conservatives' false reality.

Arizona far-right Republican U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko made the false claim on the floor of the House of Representatives:

Florida Republican U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, linking to an article literally titled: "Biden administration denies funding programs that hand out crack pipes to prevent infection and promote 'racial equity'" says in a video posted to his Twitter account, "The Biden administration is going to be sending crack pipes and meth pipes, targeting minority communities," a claim he knows is a lie.

Fox News entertainers Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity both made the most of the claim, with The Daily Mail reporting: "Tucker Carlson slams policy to hand out free crack pipes and needles warning it 'will result in addicts shooting up on the streets.'"

The genie is out of the bottle, and no one on the right has any intention or desire to put it back.
