</div><div>Wyrick was nominated in April to sit on the U.S. District Court in Oklahoma City and faced questions last month about his ties to the local oil and gas giant. He faced more questions after the hearing and his written answers were made public last week.</div><div>
</div><div><span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 102);">Democrats have repeatedly raised concerns about Wyrick's involvement in a controversy between 2011 and 2013 involving his former boss, Scott Pruitt, who was then the state attorney general.</span></div><div><span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 102);">
</span></div><div><span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 102);">While solicitor general under Pruitt, Wyrick received emails from Bill Whitsitt, a Devon lobbyist, that contained legal complaints Devon wanted sent to the federal government. Pruitt's office modified the complaints slightly, attached the attorney general's seal and sent them on.</span></div><div>
</div><div><b>Wyrick wrote the phrases “I don't recall” and “I have no recollection” a dozen times in response to questions about Devon last week. </b>He could not recall discussing the Devon emails with Pruitt or whether he acted on Devon's requests. He had no recollection of a letter sent to the Bureau of Land Management on Devon's behalf, despite emails in which Whitsitt and Wyrick discuss it.</div><div>
</div><div>Financial disclosure</div><div>
</div><div><span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 102);">A financial disclosure document shows Wyrick or his wife was a shareholder in <b>energy, steel and cigarette companies l</b>ast year. Wyrick has said he sold his shares in Devon upon becoming a judge in 2017 but declined to discuss his other stock.</span></div><div>
</div><div>“I can't comment on it,” he said before a forum in Oklahoma City on Wednesday.</div><div>

</div><div>The justice deferred comment to the Trump administration. An administration official originally agreed to answer questions about the Wyricks' stock but said Thursday that he will not comment.</div><div>
</div><div>The financial disclosure document, obtained by The Oklahoman from a Senate source, states Wyrick or his wife owned stock in <b>Devon, Chesapeake Energy, Phillip Morris and United States Steel </b>at some point between Jan. 1 of 2017 and April 13 of this year. Wyrick did not report selling any stock during that time, but federal disclosure laws do not require him to report such transactions.</div><div>
</div><div>Since joining the Oklahoma Supreme Court last February, Wyrick has properly filed state financial disclosure reports, though they, too, lack the detail needed to determine what stocks he owns. Justices must reveal ownership in a publicly traded company only when they own at least five percent of it or earn $50,000 a year in dividends from it. Wyrick did not report owning any such stock in 2016 or 2017.</div><div>
</div><div><span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 102);">Wyrick began his law career as a clerk for U.S. District Court Judge James Payne in 2007 and has called him “a great man” from whom he learned a lot. The year before Wyrick's clerkship, Payne withdrew his nomination for a seat on the 10th Circuit Court after it was revealed he issued rulings on cases involving corporations in which he owned stock.</span></div><div>

</div><div>Wyrick's nomination is scheduled for a debate and vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday after being delayed by a week at the request of Democrats. Because Republicans hold a narrow majority on the committee — as well as the full Senate — Democratic opposition alone cannot stymie Wyrick's nomination.</div><div>
</div><div>In addition to the Devon controversy, Democrats have pressed Wyrick on his residency. The justice fills a southeast Oklahoma seat on the high court but has lived for years in the Oklahoma City area. He acquired his parents' house in Atoka in 2016.</div><div>
</div><div>“I consider Atoka my home, and the place to which I intend to return once professional obligations have passed and I am able,” he wrote to White House.</div><div>

But while Mike Pence of Indiana, Greg Abbott of Texas, Scott Walker of Wisconsin, Earl Ray Tomblin of West Virginia and Bobby Jindal of Louisiana have all threatened noncompliance, none have done so as emphatically as Mary Fallin of Oklahoma.</font></p><p style="padding: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 15px; line-height: 1.6em; font-stretch: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"><font size="4" face="Times New Roman">Gov.
