"Abandon Me or Burden Me with Authenticity", I Begged

"Abandon me or burden me with authenticity," I begged.

This is a quote from Because Curiosity is Building But Christ has to Do the Convincing.

This section is talking about wanting to dismiss spiritual experiences as highly dubious but not being able to because deep down, I knew there was truth to the claims that God moves today even if I didn't feel like I was given any actual evidence for that.

The rest of the quote continues:

'Cause me to do something different but I definitely can't continue like this!' Confused that I couldn't come through the chaos without blackening the clear-cut contract I thought we signed, I cried. Constantly.

The section speaks of desperation for God to be either real enough to be worth following or for the thoughts claiming to be divine instructions to leave me the #%^& alone.

Of course, I would not be here if He had left me there but I also wouldn't be here had I not been there at all. Doubt and frustration isn't to be feared but instead, may we be honest about our discontent because attempting to hide it under pretty platitudes basically argues that 1) God isn't capable of seeing past all that and 2) doesn't also hunger for a deeper, more genuine relationship with us.
