Zeal, an Abecedarian Analytic about Awaiting Breakthrough
By Valerie Lukens

Abecedarian (adj.): relating to the alphabet

Analytic (n., constructed by author): a foray into a variety of topics that circle a central theme for the purpose of building a singular argument (noun, constructed by the author)

As an adjective, analytic means "of or relating to analysis or analytics". 'Analytics"' is 'plural in construction but singular in form' and means "the method of logical analysis" which means "a detailed examination of anything complex in order to understand its nature or to determine its essential features : a thorough study".

That idea feels too linear for this project. Here, I'm intentionally obtuse - as in rough around the edges, pointing out a point without pointing it out.

I repeat and question and almost resolve and circle around again to pull something else out. As I warn in the next section, "Acknowledgments and Author's Advice", this piece is willingly a workout and for that, I needed not only a new genre, but a new word to define it.

Abecedarian Analytic (n., constructed by author): A poem in prose form purposed to provide personal and societal critique and reflection for the purpose of prompting a change in heart that results in a change in behavior

Zeal, An Abecedarian Analytic about Awaiting Breakthrough: one author's heart's cry for Jesus to show up and show off.
