My Kitchen

Above is a dehydrator

Above: note the skylight/window treatments.

(Don’t like the blue stove)
Separate upright ss freezer
Open kitchen, skylights or glass block, window over sink to view large fenced in yard for dogs to run. No grass in the yard, hard dirt to see poop for pickup, covered picnic table in middle for residents. Kitchen will need food storage pantry, no coffee or coffee machines, no soda, just herbal teas and will need a few Berkey water purifiers. No fancy silverware or place settings. This is a safehouse not a luxury hotel. It must be built to last, attractive inside and out, but NOT fancy. Country, “homey” and safe is how I would describe it. Kitchen will need at least 3 crock pots and two large cutting boards. Stainless steel cookware. No dishwasher, this will be done by hand. I don’t think a garbage disposal is necessary but please use the best water pipes available, same with water heater (I have seen quite a few “This Old House” episodes!). Mug racks on the wall to hold at least 2 dozen mugs, no expensive fancy ones just simple and “country.”
bench/tables for eating and journaling.
some bar-height seating
A kitchen island or a kitchen peninsula are both perfect spaces to add seating for casual dining. The most common kitchen seating question is often about the countertop height. Should the countertop be the same height as the workspace /prep zone or should it be elevated (also referred to as bar height)?
