Did you see/read the article in the June 1, 2025 edition of the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel? The title "Silent Epidemic" is found above the fold on page 11A and written by Laura Schulte. The article is quite lengthy and centers around violent abuse of women. Four pseudonums are included yet I can't help but wonder if there were others that were unable to speak openly about their abuse, which included sexual abuse -- which I call RAPE. Please note that I may have missed it but I don't recall seeing that word in the article. Personally (and as a retired master's level mental health counselor with over twenty-five years of education and experience in in-patient, out-patient, residential, and clinical facilities around the United States of America), I would simplify the terminology by using the word that most accurately describes the act. There are degrees of "sexual abuse" ie fondling, kissing, but RAPE is very clearly sexual abuse resulting in entering a woman's body without her consent. RAPE can be performed with a penis, a finger, a thumb, or any other type of "tool" that a rapist chooses. For me, the highlight of the Article ws at the end, when the reader is told that "most of the support" came "from each other" (referring to the courageous women who STOOD UP, SPOKE OUT, AND WERE HEARD!
