Exacerbation
Muscle weakness in patients with MG can be exacerbated by infection, stress, electrolyte imbalance, and certain medications (eg, antibiotics such as tetracyclines, antihypertensives, antiarrhythmics, and neuropsychiatrics). Iodinated contrast materials have been documented to exacerbate muscle weakness in patients with MG; gadolinium has been shown to be safer in these patients.
