Temperature >38.5ºC

Respiratory rate >70 breaths per minute in infants (<12 months) and >50 breaths/min in older children

Moderate to severe retractions in infants and severe difficulty breathing in older children

Nasal flaring

Cyanosis or hypoxemia (oxygen saturation <92 percent)

Intermittent apnea in infants

Grunting respiration

Not feeding in infants and signs of dehydration in older children</p>
