Rogue State

"A "Rogue State" is a term used to describe a nation or state that is considered to be breaking international law and posing a threat to the security of other nations¹. This term is often applied to states that meet certain criteria, such as being ruled by authoritarian or totalitarian governments that severely restrict human rights, sponsoring terrorism, or seeking to proliferate weapons of mass destruction².

The term "Rogue State" is used most by the United States, although the US State Department officially stopped using the term in 2000². U.S. politicians have used the term to describe countries such as Iran, Syria, North Korea, Afghanistan, Cuba, and Venezuela².

It's important to note that the definition of a rogue state is determined exclusively by the US government and mainly includes countries that support terrorism or use or develop weapons of mass destruction³. However, the term and the political orientation go back exclusively to the USA and are not an internationally recognized criterion³.

Please note that this is a politically charged term and its use can be controversial. Different entities may have different criteria for what constitutes a "rogue state"."
