The Kulu
A supernatural creature said to be a mournful, angry spirit that roams the Veldt at nights. It is often used as a cautionary tale for young birds to return to camp at dark. Certain times when the wind makes particular wailing or whistling sounds, it is said to be the calls of the Kulus, mourning their lost homes.
It seems quite apparent the Kulu myth plays into the broader tradition in Jay cultures to demonize the Kulu races, as it is very clearly based on them. Though linguists and historians do not know if these particular stories told by the Au’Kael originated in Karl, or were unique threads that arose in the Veldt.
